Former astronaut: Man not alone in universe (CNN)

(CNN) ;4/20/2009, Earth Day may fall later this week, but as far as former NASA astronaut Edgar Mitchell and other UFO enthusiasts are concerned, the real story is happening elsewhere.

Mitchell grew up in Roswell, New Mexico, which some UFO believers maintain was the site of a UFO crash in 1947. He said residents of his hometown "had been hushed and told not to talk about their experience by military authorities." They had been warned of "dire consequences" if they did so.

Britain's tabloid Sun newspaper Thursday proclaimed from its front page that a wind turbine was ruined after a UFO hit one of its 20 meter-long blades in Conisholme, Lincolnshire.

Former astronaut: Man not alone in universe (CNN)

(CNN) ;4/20/2009, Earth Day may fall later this week, but as far as former NASA astronaut Edgar Mitchell and other UFO enthusiasts are concerned, the real story is happening elsewhere.

Mitchell grew up in Roswell, New Mexico, which some UFO believers maintain was the site of a UFO crash in 1947. He said residents of his hometown "had been hushed and told not to talk about their experience by military authorities." They had been warned of "dire consequences" if they did so.

An unnamed admiral working for the Joint Chiefs of Staff promised to uncover the truth behind the Roswell story, Mitchell said. The stories of a UFO crash "were confirmed," but the admiral was then denied access when he "tried to get into the inner workings of that process."

It's one of the few bright spots amid the economic gloom - a local real estate market that is brimming with deals and incredibly low financing.

That little boy was phenominal. I got the everyday woman theme with Susan but she is not easy on the eyes. Even if the boy's voice does change, he still has room to grow. Look at Michael Jackson ( as weird as he is) when his voice changed he was still talented. The boy can improve even though I thought he was fantastic. Susan can't do anything with her looks. i would never buy a ticket to SEE her in concert. The boy has more cross over appeal than Susan and would appeal to wider audience.

No comparison - apples and oranges. Different genders, different ages, different vocal types and different music. Couldn't tell if the boys' voice has broken yet and while he handled the second song well, hers was the better presentation. She has had more time, training and preparation so again no comparison. Simon Cowell stopping his first song was quite correct - the boy had chosen the wrong type of music for his voice and Cowell wanted to give him a fair chance. This is where experience shows, Boyle knew what kind of song to pick for that kind of event that would showcase her talent well without giving away the final product she intends to present at the end of the competition. He might do well to include a few dance steps and sparkles a la Michael Jackson to add to his next presentation. But if that kind of music is all he can do, you can bet that Susan Boyle will wipe up the floor with him with the variety of her work.

Both performances are amazing, but comparing the two is like comparing oranges to apples. However, everytime I see Susan Boyle perform it brings me to tears. Shaheen has his whole life ahead to develop his talent. Susan on the other hand is older and this is an opportunity for her to have her wildest dreams come true. I'm rooting for Susan because I know Shaheen too will be able to go on and have great things happen for him.

I have watched both video's, I was never a fan of screaming sing-song, songs. So I would vote for Susan Boyle. Reviewing the tapes Susan was not stopped, but could of sang Cry Me A River per Cowell's request, but she excelled at I Dreamed A Dream, even compared to Elaine Page, I viewed that tape also. Singing should be "pleasant" to the ear, and so that is why I voted Susan. Minus the screaming I may could have been persuaded by the kid. But for now it is Susan Boyle. Pleasant wins

That little boy was phenominal. I got the everyday woman theme with Susan but she is not easy on the eyes. Even if the boy's voice does change, he still has room to grow. Look at Michael Jackson ( as weird as he is) when his voice changed he was still talented. The boy can improve even though I thought he was fantastic. Susan can't do anything with her looks. i would never buy a ticket to SEE her in concert. The boy has more cross over appeal than Susan and would appeal to wider audience.

Couldn't tell if the boys' voice has broken yet and while he handled the second song well, hers was the better presentation. She has had more time, training and preparation so again no comparison. Simon Cowell stopping his first song was quite correct - the boy had chosen the wrong type of music for his voice and Cowell wanted to give him a fair chance. This is where experience shows, Boyle knew what kind of song to pick for that kind of event that would showcase her talent well without giving away the final product she intends to present at the end of the competition. He might do well to include a few dance steps and sparkles a la Michael Jackson to add to his next presentation. But if that kind of music is all he can do, you can bet that Susan Boyle will wipe up the floor with him with the variety of her work.

Both performances are amazing, but comparing the two is like comparing oranges to apples. However, everytime I see Susan Boyle perform it brings me to tears. Shaheen has his whole life ahead to develop his talent. Susan on the other hand is older and this is an opportunity for her to have her wildest dreams come true. I'm rooting for Susan because I know Shaheen too will be able to go on and have great things happen for him.

I have watched both video's, I was never a fan of screaming sing-song, songs. So I would vote for Susan Boyle. Reviewing the tapes Susan was not stopped, but could of sang Cry Me A River per Cowell's request, but she excelled at I Dreamed A Dream, even compared to Elaine Page, I viewed that tape also. Singing should be "pleasant" to the ear, and so that is why I voted Susan. Minus the screaming I may could have been persuaded by the kid. But for now it is Susan Boyle. Pleasant wins

Afterwards Morgan, who had winced when Boyle said she wanted to a professional singer like Elaine Paige, admitted that she had been “my biggest surprise in three years of this show”.

The next major mammoth find occurred in Russia at the turn of the 20th century, when a Siberian deer hunter spotted mammoth tusks protruding from an icy cliff along the Bereskovka River, inside the Arctic Circle. The hunter was satisfied with taking the tusks and selling them, but fortunately, the buyer decided to inform the Russian government, which in 1901 sent zoologist Otto Herz and taxidermist Eugen Pfizenmayer from the Imperial Academy of Sciences to investigate. After an arduous four-month journey to the spot, the two scientists were struck with awe by what they found.

“Some time before the mammoth body came into view, I smelt its anything but pleasant odor―like the smell of a badly kept stable heavily blended with that of offal,” Pfizenmayer later recounted. “Then, around a bend in the path, a towering skull appeared, and we stood at the grave of the diluvial monster… speechless in front of this evidence of the prehistoric world, which had been preserved almost intact in its grave of ice throughout the ages.” The 35- to 50-year old male, which had fallen into an ice fissure and suffocated in a subsequent landslide 35,000 years ago, was so well-preserved that its flesh―dark red and streaked with thick layers of marbled fat―looked like freshly frozen beef or horsemeat. “It looked so appetizing that we wondered for some time whether we should not taste it,” Herz later recalled. “But no one would venture to take it into his mouth.”
