Necessity and Contingency
The laws of nature have necessity. It can be said that the laws of nature are in place in the natural world, and necessity dominates from that point of view. However, on the other hand, it is no exaggeration to say that all events happen by chance even in the natural world. It can be said that more or less contingency is involved in the emergence of the laws of nature. Consider the dice as the most obvious example. Every dice roll has a 1/6 chance, all the six faces cannot come out one-sixth at a time. Also, we cannot tell when which face will come out. Even if you throw it 6 times, allfaces will not always come out once each. Sometimes, a "1" may come out in succession, othertimes, a "6" may appear two times in a row. As you can see, every time you roll the dice is a coincidence. However, if you shake it many times, each face will come out one-sixth of the number of times you throw it. Here, the necessity of a one-sixth probability appears through number of times of chance, and that necessity cannot even appear without chance. On the other hand, necessity is involved in chance. In the example of the dice, it was said that the roll of each dice is a coincidence, but in this coincidence, necessity dominates from a mechanical point of view. The state of the dice at the moment when the dice are released, the kinetic energy given to the dice, the elasticity and friction of the rolled surface of the table, etc. determine the dice roll to be rolled. In this way, the face that appeard each time follow the laws of mechanics. Thinking in this way, although necessity the opposite concept of contingency, we can see that they are very closely related to each other.Freedom is the choice with one's own will in situations where there are choices. There is no freedom where there is no choice. Choice is to bring the necessity by the will of the person, with respect to any of the possible choices. The act of choice itself is neither necessisary nor contingent. It can be said that the act of choice is the act of making what was possible become inevitable.
