The reckoning over sexual assault in the U.S. has helped reignite long-simmering movements in South Korea, China and beyond. But speaking out comes with huge risks
But daring to speak out in some of these deeply patriarchal societies comes with enormous risks. In democratic South Korea, even as women take to the streets demanding justice on violence and sexual harassment, they cover their faces out of fear of backlash. In China—a repressive state where crackdowns on human rights activists and minority populations are escalating—women must contend with their posts on social media being censored and online feminist platforms being shut down.
Getting a flu vaccine is like wearing underwear. Just because you did it last year, doesn't mean you shouldn't do it this year.
Also, similar to underwear, the protection offered by a flu vaccine does not last forever. While the duration of protection can vary significantly from person to person, in some cases, the protection may wear off in 6 months or so, which is still much longer than you should wear a pair of underwear. That's one reason why you should get a flu vaccine every year, assuming that you are 6 months and older because you can read this and you don't have a medical reason (e.g., life threatening allergy) to not get the vaccine.
Another reason is that strains of the flu virus are like reality television stars. Different ones come and go from year to year. Therefore, the strains in a flu vaccine and thus the strains that you end up being protected against vary from year to year.
インフルエンザワクチン接種は毎年するべきか?答えはイエス。
理由1 効果は6ヶ月位でなくなる
理由2 違うタイプのものが毎年流行する
If you want to maximize your immunity against the flu, you have to get the vaccine each and every year.
The singer formerly known as Sinéad O'Connor, and most recently named Magda Davitt, has converted to Islam. She is now using the name Shuhada' Davitt.
She has written on Twitter that she is "very, very, very happy" and is giving thanks to "all my Muslim brothers and sisters who have been so kind as to welcome me to Ummah," referring to the Muslim community worldwide.
Davitt has quite publicly struggled with mental health issues: In 2007, she revealed on an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show that she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder four years beforehand. In a very upsetting video posted last September on Facebook, she said that she was suicidal and was living alone in a Travelodge in New Jersey.
She then went on the Dr. Phil show to talk about her challenges, saying: "I'm hoping we can save some lives. There's a certain group of people who are absolutely afraid to open their mouth about mental illness — and that is rockers. People in the music business. Famous people. I think it's important that those of us that are in the entertainment industry actually do begin to open up."
This is to announce that I am proud to have become a Muslim. This is the natural conclusion of any intelligent theologian’s journey. All scripture study leads to Islam. Which makes all other scriptures redundant. I will be given (another) new name. It will be Shuhada’
Partly because of a projected decrease in imports of Beaujolais Nouveau in plastic bottles with lower price tags, total shipments of the wine to Japan this year are expected to drop for the sixth consecutive year.
Suntory Wine International estimates this year’s total imports at about 430,000 cases, down about 9 percent from the previous year. Each case contains the equivalent of 12 750-milliliter bottles.
Black cats haven’t had the best press over the last few hundred years. All the way from Celtic good luck charms, to the object of deep-seated suspicion and scorn, they’re the moggies that seem to attract unusually strong feelings on both ends of the spectrum, from love to loathing. Which all seems a bit unfair really, considering that no one has seriously believed that black cats are demons or witches in disguise for at least 300 years. But still, it feels right that they get their own exclusive slot to serve as center of attention, which is why National Black Cat Day occurs every October 27th.
