アメリカで始まったセクハラに対する告発のムーブメント#MeToo。これがアジアではまたちがった展開を見せているという、TIMEの記事。
韓国の女性SEOさんの例、韓国の状況、他のアジアについて、アメリカと異なりアジアでは有名人が声を上げていないということ、その背景にあるアジアにおける文化的状況、中国の状況とくに中国に特有の検閲の問題、韓国では告発する人やラリーに参加する人も匿名で顔を隠す人が多い…といった話が取り上げられている。
タイトルは「アジアの」といって入るものの、取り上げられている事例は韓国と中国だけで、日本の事例に関してはごく僅かに言及されているに過ぎない。他のアジア地域もほとんど取り上げられていない。
中国はやはり検閲の問題が大きく、あとは、共通点として言えるのは（明確には書かれてはいなかったけれども儒教的価値観を背景に持つ）家父長制的な価値観を背景にした文化ということかとおもう。

In democratic South Korea, even as women take to the streets demanding justice on violence and sexual harassment, they cover their faces out of fear of backlash. In China—a repressive state where crackdowns on human rights activists and minority populations are escalating—women must contend with their posts on social media being censored and online feminist platforms being shut down.
