relation with water
For landscapes of great nature, 'water' is indispensable.
Therefore, Nihonteien have have some expressions of water.
And there is an another reason, too.
Water means 'amniotcfuild' of one's mother.
That is why the sounds of water feel us comfoterble.
In the garden, there is considaration for sounds of water.
The small drop in the babbing water, named "Seotoshi(瀬落し)",
makes beautiful laight sounds.
And the dropping and flowing water play a role for making
movement and variation in the garedns too.
small world
The healed sond and constructed stones show the mountains scenery.
There are waterfalls and ravines, then flow into sea.
The stones never be worked, but be chosen for its own colors or shapes etc.
This way is said 'Mitate(見立て)' in Japanese.
Plants are well worked by technical expart, but never be disturbed its own style.
In the way make a Nihon Teien, the beauty of nature is made use as it is.
admirtion
I'm starting with reading tbe book 'zukai zatugaku NIhon Teien (図解雑学 日本庭園).
The culture of Nihon Teien was born in Asuka era (592-710), same time with Buddism was introduced into Japan.
Allmost of all the gardens express the admiration for 'sea' or 'picteresque places of China' or 'mountain ranges(like Himaraya)' .
Lets`s start!
I'm writing my process of learning Nihon Teien(Japanese style garden) in English, though I'm a beginner in it.
That is the point to be feel easy to know about Nihon Teien for the peaple not speak Jpanese.
I'm not good at English so much, but I will try my best.
