70’s 初頭米SSWアルバム屈指の名作としてお馴染み「The Band」の「Robbie Robertson」プロデュースによる ‘70年初作 “Jesse Winchester”【＊当blog関連記事↓リンク】に続き「Jesse Winchester」がカナダ亡命中時期の作品で、モントリオールとトロントの2ヶ所のスタジオにて現地ミュージシャンを中心とした面々とレコーディングした基本「Jesse」セルフ・プロデュース (＊うち↓YouTube公式音源脚注特記した3曲は “Bearsville” レーベル・メイト/スタッフで前作エンジニアを務めた「Todd Rundgren」がプロデュース担当) によるアルバム♪

基本「Jesse」弾き語りスタイルを中心に据えた極シンプルなプロダクションがその主体の本作なか、バンド形式で録音された比較的 “ノリ” が好いアップテンポの↑リンク曲は丁度A面ラストでアルバムのフックになっているような. . . 「Amos Garrett」による “星屑” ギター・リックもいつも以上に速いパッセージでグルーヴィーにキメてますね！
あと、この曲は英パブ・ロック黎明期名バンド「Chilli Willi And The Red Hot Peppers」’74年2作目 “Bongos Over Balham” 収録カヴァー・ヴァージョン (こちら♪) も最高にゴキゲン！大好物〜！

プロデュースを担った「Robbie Robertson (g)」、そして「Levon Helm (ds)」がプレイヤーとして参加した前作での “「The Band」” 風味が随所で顔を出すアーシーな作風からすると、先述の通りシンプルなプロダクション主体の本作は地味ながらも「Jesse Winchester」の心優しい温かみが滲む米SSWアルバムの “良心” 的一枚かと♪
