I couldn't make it to the finish line.
I’m not talking about health—this is about work.I work in the IT field. That said, IT is just a tool; my actual focus is on quality assurance.I’ve been interested in computers since middle school, which led me to where I am now.About 10–15 years ago, when I entered my 40s, I thought:"With 20 years left until retirement, I’ll make it through.Considering the progress of IT technology so far, as long as I understand the basics, I’ll be fine."But reality turned out to be very different.Once I realized that, I studied intensively, barely managing to keep up.Back in my 40s, I thought that with the skill level I had at the time,I could glide smoothly all the way to retirement. My altitude was high enough, but in reality, the ground started rising—at an incredible speed. At one point, I was heading for a crash landing. That’s when I hit the books hard, managed to climb higher, and somehow made it to where I am now.Looking back, my friends and I say, “That was close. We thought we could make it.”From now on, just focusing on technical skills won’t be enough. You need to learn more, broaden your knowledge, and develop a wider perspective. The younger generation will likely face even tougher challenges, but I hope they can find joy in it.When I say I studied hard, it wasn’t like back in my student days.It was the kind of studying where not understanding was fun, where asking “Why?” became fascinating. It made learning enjoyable.
