みなさんは、大切にしまっていた宝物を偶然見つけた時、
「あった！私、これ持ってたの、忘れてた〜！見つけて良かった！」
って思ったことってないですか？
この”靈”という文字の本当の意味を知ると、ハッとします。
大切だからと大事に隠しているうちに、忘れてしまっていた
宝物を見つけた瞬間のような、満たされた気分になります。
「霊」、旧字では
「靈」
と書きます。
靈とか霊という漢字を毛嫌いしている方！
今ここで、もう一度見直してください！
これ、日本人が思い出さないと！
「霊」さえ怪しいのに、旧字で「靈」と書くと、さらにおどろおどろしい。
あえて古い書き方使うのって、なんかこだわり強すぎて抵抗あるわ。
少し宗教じみてて、ちょっと距離を置きたくなります。
そんなコメントもお聞きしたことあるし、
ま、そりゃそうだよねー。
テレビ番組とかで、幽霊、霊魂、悪霊、生き霊、心霊現象特集とかで見る漢字
だから、「霊＝ネガティブ＝近寄るな」のレッテルを貼られてしまってるからね。
靈という漢字がもたらす先入観を、いつも感じます。
私は「靈」と言う漢字に姿があるのなら、深く頭を下げて、
謝りたいですよ、人として。
日本人が忘れかけている、この美しい漢字のほんっとうの意味、
思い出して欲しいなって思います。
「靈」は「霊」の旧字(戦前に使われていた字)です。
昔から、漢字の意味を大事にしてきた日本人のはずなのに、
何か大切なものが忘れられてしまった現代の日本。
まず、身近なところから。。。
遠足とかに持ってったり、ちょっと小腹が空いて、ぱっぱと握って食べる
「おむすび」の由来って、知ってますか？
「産靈」（むすひ）
昔の日本人は、山に神様が宿っていて、太陽や恵みの雨を運んできてくれていると信じていました。 その山の神様の恩恵を得ようと、炊いたお米を山の形に握り、「おむすび」として食べていたといわれています。 
産靈（むすひ）とは、古い神道における考え方で、天地・万物を生成・発展・完成させる神様のような働きという意味ですが、「おむすび」はそこから来てるんですよ。
これを知ると、おむすびを食べる時の氣持ちが変わりますね！
「言靈」（ことたま）
古い時代の日本で、言葉に宿っていると信じられていた不思議な力。
昔の日本人は、声に出した言葉どおりの結果を現す力があると信じていました。
言葉に宿るたましいの力によって幸せがもたらされる、言靈文化の国、日本。
「いってらっしゃい」「いってきます」毎日、言ってませんでしたか？
結婚式の祝辞とか、お葬式の弔辞、使う言葉に氣を遣いますよね？
これ、言靈文化なのです。
言葉を大事にしようって思いますよね！
いってきますと言って、神社に行き、見えない力に手を合わせる
私たち日本人が、靈 と言う漢字を今一度見直す時が来ていると思います。
この”靈”という文字の、本当の意味を知ると、
日本人としての魂を思い出すかもしれません。
ハッとします。

靈という漢字は、雨、口三つ（器）、巫女から成り立ってます。
雨は、天から落ちてくる恩恵です。水がなくては何も生きれません。
器は、人は天からの恩恵を受け取る器。人としての器。
巫女は、神に仕える清らかなたましいを持ちます。
清らかに、人としての器を持ち、天からの恩恵を受ける能力。
それが、人の靈に生まれ持って備わっている。
靈氣は、天から降ってくる雨、雪、雷と同じような、大自然の恵みです。
そうやって、大自然の恩恵を人の手を通すことから、
靈氣療法が生まれました。
その大事な大事な意味がすっ飛ばされて、旧字が新字に変わり、
靈氣療法から、霊気療法となり、日本では「霊」の文字がカルト宗教の
イメージがあると怪しまれている中、海外に渡って、Reiki Healingとなり、
世界各国に日本のヒーリングとして広がり、それが逆輸入で日本に戻ってきて、
海外のコンセプトとして日本で受け入れられたのが、レイキ。
元を辿ると、靈氣療法なのです。
どうして"レイキ"はよくて、"靈氣"はNG？

When you happen to find a treasure that you've kept carefully and forgotten about, haven't you ever thought,
"Ah! I had this, I completely forgot! I'm glad I found it!"
When you truly understand the meaning of the character
"靈" (Rei), it makes you stop and think.
It's like the feeling you get when you stumble upon a treasure you had cherished and forgotten about while keeping it safe, a feeling of fulfillment.
For those who dislike characters like
"霊" (Rei) or "靈" (Rei), please take a moment to reconsider...
"Even "霊" (Rei) is suspicious enough, but writing it as "靈" (Rei) in the old style makes it even more eerie. "
"It feels like being overly attached to an outdated way of writing, which can be a bit off-putting. "
"It feels somewhat religious and makes you want to keep a little distance."
I've heard such comments before, and well, I guess that's understandable.
We see characters "霊" (Rei) in TV shows or specials about ghosts, spirits, evil spirits, wandering spirits, or psychic phenomena, the characters have been labeled as
"negative = stay away."
I always feel the prejudice that the character "靈" (Rei) brings.
If there is indeed a form to the character "靈" (Rei), I would like to bow deeply and apologize as a human being.
I would like Japanese people to remember the true meaning of this beautiful character that they are starting to forget.
"靈" (Rei) is the old character (used before World War II) for "霊" (Rei).
Japanese people have always cherished the meanings of kanji, but things changed after the WWll.
Let's start from something familiar...
Have you ever heard about the origin of "onigiri" (rice balls) that you take on picnics or eat when you're a little hungry?
"産靈" (musuhi)
In ancient times, Japanese people believed that gods existed in mountains that brought sunshine and rain. To receive the blessings of these mountain gods, people molded cooked rice into the shape of mountains and ate them as "onigiri."
"産靈" (musuhi) is a concept in ancient Shinto beliefs, meaning the spiritual function of generating, developing, and completing the universe and all things.
And "onigiri" comes from there.
Knowing this, you will feel respect when you eat onigiri, won't it?
"Kototama" (words spirits)
In ancient Japan, a mysterious power was believed to reside in words. Japanese believe that words can bring about results exactly as spoken. Japan, believing that happiness is brought about by the power of souls residing in words, is a country of Kototama culture.
Did you say "Itterasshai" (be safe) or "Ittekimasu" (I'm off) every day?
Do you carefully choose your words for wedding speeches or funeral eulogies?
This is Kototama culture.
It's time for us Japanese people to reconsider the character "靈" (Rei) once again.
I really believe that knowing the true meaning of the character "靈" (Rei) may remind us of our Japanese soul.
The character "靈" (Rei) consists of rain, three mouths (container), and a female shaman who serves in the Shrine.
Rain is the blessing that falls from the heavens. Nothing can survive without water.
The container represents humans as vessels to receive blessings from heaven. It signifies the capacity of a person.
The female shaman possesses a pure soul serving the gods.
Having a pure soul and the capacity as a human to receive blessings from heaven. That is what human beings inherently have.
Reiki is like the blessings of rain, snow, and thunder descending from the heavens, a grace of nature.
Reiki treatment is done by passing on the blessings of nature through human hands, .
The crucial and essential meaning was completely skipped over, the old character changed to a new one, and from "靈氣療法" (Reiki therapy), it became "霊気療法" (Reiki therapy), where in Japan the character "霊" (Rei) is regarded with suspicion as being associated with cult religions.
But as it spread worldwide as Reiki Healing a Japanese healing method, and then it was reimported back to Japan as a foreign concept, becoming "レイキ”（Reiki）.
But originally, it was "靈氣療法" (Reiki written in old cheractor).
Why is "レイキ”（Reiki）cool while "靈氣" (Reiki) is eerie?
