Sivan : I think also not being able to like run from it, and having to confront it. Because I think like, when you're traveling and stuff like that as much as, um...I was, it's very easy to just stay busy, and kind of like push it away. And I think, Yeah, kind of having the time to think was uncomfortable, but then, on the other side, I felt, I felt really good.

Moderator : Um, so, uh, we'll get into all of her songwriting process. But let's talk about the first single, 'Rush', who got you two Grammy noms and a bunch of other beautiful nominations and awards.

Moderator : Yes, yes. Um, what made you choose this as the first single? Was it the first one you wrote? Who did you write it with? What was the process like?

Sivan : Yeah. So, this was actually one of the last songs that we wrote for the album, if not the last. Um, basically, the way that I was approaching the album making process was, before I even started, I knew that I wanted it to be 10 songs. And I feel like...

Moderator : You planned that out like this is the body work I wanted to.

Sivan : Yeah. I just love like a 10 tracks album. I think it's so cute. And I love it.

Sivan : And I think you've got to be really confident in what you're, you know, it's not a lot of real estate to say. You've got this like limited amount of space to kind of concisely say confidently say what you're trying to say. And so, I was like, "Okay, cool challenge. 10 tracks." Um, and then from there, I feel like every album so far, I've had a few songs, maybe two or three on the album where I'm like, "Wow, this is like this makes me this captures the feeling." I think it's like as a songwriter when the lyric, the melody, the production, the story, when they all work in tandem, or sometimes work against each other perfectly, and you can is rather than you telling someone how you're feeling, you just show them that you can make them feel it, you know?
シヴァン：自分の表現に、本当に自信を持たないといけないと思うんだ。だって、表現できるスペースは限られているんだしね。限られたスペースの中で、自分が伝えたいことを簡潔に、自信を持って伝えられる。だから、「よし、いいチャレンジだ。10曲だ」って思っていたんだ。これまでのアルバムには、2曲か3曲くらい「そう、これ、この感情を捉えたかったんだ」って思う曲があってね。ソングライターとしてね。歌詞、メロディー、プロダクション、ストーリー、それらが完璧に調和するか、あるいは完璧に相反し合うとき、誰かに僕の気持ちを単に伝えるだけでなくて、相手に本当の意味で、その気持ちを感じさせることができるようになるんだ。
Sivan : And that's the thing that I'm like constantly striving for is like, bottling a feeling, you know. And my favorite songs always do that. Um I was actually thinking about 'Glad He's Gone' is one of those songs that does that for me. The chorus just has like this feeling that you, I don't know, anyways, um so I appreciate that. Of course. Um so yeah, I knew that there were these feelings that I needed to capture. And one of them was this feeling that I was just talking about before, which was the sweaty on the dance floor. The air is so thick you can hardly breathe. you can hardly hear because the music is so loud, and you're surrounded by people, but you can also have this really like insular moment.
シヴァン：僕が常に目指しているのは、感情を瓶詰めすることなんだ。僕の好きな曲は、いつもそうしてくれる曲だからさ。「Glad He's Gone」（Glad He's Goneは、スウェーデンのシンガーソングライター、トーヴ・ローが4枚目のスタジオアルバム『Sunshine Kitty』（2019年）に収録した曲。エレクトロポップ、ポップ、アンビエントポップの要素を織り交ぜた楽曲で、歌詞には、要求の多いボーイフレンドを持つ友人を気遣い、話しかけるローの姿が描かれている）は、僕にとってそういう曲の一つさ。コーラス部分には、何というか、そういう感じがあって、それがすごく好きなんだ。そういう感情を捉えたいと思っていて、その一つがさっきも話した、ダンスフロアでの汗だくの感覚なんだけどね。空気が濃くて、息もできない。音楽がうるさくて、ほとんど聞こえない。周りが人に囲まれているのに、同時にすごく孤立したような瞬間も味わえるんだ。
Sivan : One of my favorite things is, closing my eyes and feeling the light on my eyelids, you know, and just like, zoning out. Um, partying had become almost like a spiritual experience for me. And that feeling I didn't have on the album yet. Like I didn't have that song that made you want to just like have that absolute, like slap you across the face from the first seconds it started.
シヴァン：僕の好きなことの一つは、目を閉じてまぶたに光を感じ、ぼんやりと意識を集中させることさ。パーティーは僕にとって、ほとんど精神的な体験になっていたんだ。でも、その感覚は、アルバムにはまだ入っていなかった。曲が始まった瞬間から、まるで顔を叩かれたかのように、あの強烈な体験をしたくなるような曲が、まだなかったんだ。
Moderator : You going to the studio like, 'Here is the feeling I want us to portray today'?

Sivan : We tried so many times to get something that felt like that, and we couldn't do it, I don't know why, it was just like...

Moderator : It was there needs to be a level of like unhingedness, right? Even in the production in the, that's why I love the gang vocal in the chorus makes it so powerful. is really that?

Sivan : Well, that's the thing that I think I learned about dance music, because I'd never really made like dance music like that before, you know? And I think the thing that I learned is that, um, dance music feels good. It has to feel good at like every layer of it. Like I'll go through the stems of 'Rush', and I will solo, just the drums, or just the chant, and like get chills, and immediately want to start dancing. You know, like want to take off my shirt and start dancing or the baseline or whatever. You know, so it's like, 'Okay, so this is, it's about you have to be so careful with it'.
シヴァン：うん、それが僕がダンスミュージックについて学んだことだと思う。それまでそういうダンスミュージックを作ったことがなかったから。そして、ダンスミュージックは心地よくないといけないってことを学んだんだ。すべてのレイヤーが心地よくないといけない。例えば、「Rush」のステム（曲を構成する各パートの、ボーカル、ドラム、ベースなどを個別の音声ファイルに分けたデータのこと）を聴いて、ソロを弾いたり、ドラムだけを弾いたり、チャントだけを弾いたりすると、鳥肌が立って、すぐに踊り出したくなる。シャツを脱いで踊り出したくなるんだ。ベースラインとか、そういうのがね。だからこそ、「よし、すごく慎重にやらなきゃいけないんだ」って思うのさ。
Moderator : You know, way less layers. There's no, like of those just like sound mats, I like to call them, that just like kind of like walls that are just filling the space.

And so, the process though was, I was nearing the end of the album. And I was like we don't have that thing yet. So let me...

Sivan : I didn't have anything that made me want to like go as feral as I had been going.

Sivan : Yeah, exactly. So, I put on Instagram I was like, "Does anyone have any tracks laying around?"

Sivan : Yeah. And so then Alex Chapman, who you know, and Alex had been he's an incredible DJ. He's like friends with us and whatever. He had been working on music, and he was managed by our other friend Theo, and Theo messaged me and was like, "I saw your Instagram post.", like, "Listen to this", and I was lying in bed, and was like, because I was in Australia, so the time zone meant that I woke up to it. I put it next to my ear, and first of all, it was f**king loud. So, um, because it started with the chant and like the drums and everything like that, and but the chant was in there, and the drums were in there, and I think the pre chorus was in there as well. And I like, sat up out of bed, and I was like, why is this so hot? Like immediately it was giving me the feeling that I was that I wanted. Yeah, exactly. (Read more in part3)

Troye Sivan has announced details of a huge UK and European tour for 2024.
The tour is in support of Sivan’s acclaimed album ‘Something To Give Each Other’, which was released back in October. The record ? Sivan’s first in five years ? scored the Australian a glowing five-star review from Nick Levine for NME. Levine wrote: “It’s a strikingly vital pop album charged with love, lust, sweat and regret. You won’t need a bosh of poppers to feel thoroughly intoxicated.”
Hailed by The Guardian as "one of this year's best and most distinctive pop albums" and celebrated by Rolling Stone as "a pristine slice of pop heaven," the Something to Give Each Other Tour is destined to be Sivan 's biggest, boldest and brightest tour.
Sivan’s 17-date run will begin in Portugal on May 29, 2024, before continuing throughout Europe. Sivan arrives in the UK on June 22 at the Manchester AO Arena; the tour will conclude in Birmingham.Tickets for the shows go on sale on December 8 at 9am.

※Around age 18, secure in his identity, Sivan set the stage for his life to come with two videos: In May 2013, he posted an original song, inspired by the young adult best-seller The Fault in Our Stars, and in August, he came out to his followers. Both videos went viral. And then, so did he. Time magazine named him one of the 25 most influential teens of 2014. He walked in Hedi Slimane’s fall 2015 Saint Laurent menswear show. By 2016, he had over 4 million YouTube subscribers and was reportedly making upwards of six figures in sponsorships. “At that point,” he says, “I was just along for the ride.”

Sivan’s eight-minute, 17-second coming-out video is a rare thing, equal parts star power and vulnerable humanity. He had promised himself he would come out before signing a record deal, knowing it was the only way he could write music that would be completely honest. When pressed, he now says he briefly wondered if it might have lost him some young, infatuated female fans, but he “had no other choice. It was a moment where I was like, ‘I have to put myself first.’”（@「Billboard」誌）
