Moderator : I'm so excited to be here. I have a lot of questions for you. I think we're going to veer off heavily because we like to talk, both of us. I want to get right into it. Oh, wait. Before we get right into it, there's going to be a Q and A with Rita after we go through my questions. That feel good for you? A Q and A with you guys? I mean, yeah. All right. Good. 'Something to give each other'. It's been almost a year. Just to say I've been obsessed with this album as I think everybody in here. I feel like I've just been on this experience with you. Do you know what I mean? Like this whole album just feels like I'm following you in your experience. When did the process start? Um when did you know it was done?

Sivan : Right. I'm trying to remember when it actually started. I think it was weird because um... so 'Bloom' came out in 2018. Then I toured for like, a year and a half until right before COVID. And then COVID started. And then it was just kind of weird because I was in Australia and it was really hard to, um...you know, just like do anything at that time. And so, it was somewhere in like 2020 when there was these breaks between Melbourne was like super super super intense about lockdowns. Like, one time, I had to do, like 14 days quarantine, because I was like at the grocery store at the same time as like somebody else who had COVID, and we had both checked in on the QR codes, it was like, that vibe. And so, um...then there would be these breaks, between the lockdowns, where we would reach COVID zero, which is like insane. Um... but, I was newly single, you know, totally like, lost, in you know, the COVID of it all, feeling like, such a deep desire for connection with other people. And really it was like, the nights out in the breaks, where...
シヴァン：そうだね。いつから始まったのか思い出そうとしているんだけど、奇妙な感じだったと思う。だって、えーと…『Bloom』が2018年にリリースされて、それからコロナの直前まで、1年半くらいツアーを回っていたんだ。それから、コロナが始まった。オーストラリアにいたから、あの頃は何をするのも本当に大変だったし、ちょっと変な感じだった。2020年頃、メルボルンのロックダウンはものすごくすごくすごく厳しかったんだ。例えば、ある時、スーパーにコロナに感染した人と同時にいて、2人ともQRコードでチェックインしてしまったので、14日間の隔離をしなければならなかった。そんな感じだったよ。ロックダウンの合間に、コロナ感染者ゼロを達成したんだ。信じられないくらいすごいことだったな。えっと…でもね。当時、僕は、独身になったところだったんだ。コロナ禍ですっかり途方に暮れて、他の人との繋がりを強く求めていた。それで、休みの夜には…
Moderator : So then, everything would open up？

Sivan : Like everything would open up, completely. And the whole city would like come to life.
シヴァン：まるで、全てが完全に開かれたみたいにね。街全体が、活気づくようだった。
Moderator : What a mind f**k, just going back and forth.

Sivan : So crazy. No. And then, like I'm already going off topic. But like when we filmed the ad tour of my house in Melbourne, that day at the end of the video, I'm like, "Got to go guys. We're going into a COVID lockdown.", and the crew had to leave, and like we went into a lockdown that that afternoon, it was like that. It was like that extreme kind of on and off thing. And so anyways though, what was happening was, I was having these this like deep deep deep desire to just be connected to other people. And I realized how unbelievably important that was to me. And I started to kind of like experience all of these different versions of connection. And because, it was because I'd been so deprived of it, it felt so just like, world exploding, you know? Like I think whether it was like being sweaty in a club again, or like having a one night stand, or going on a date, or just like laying in the park with my friends. It was all so thrilling. And that was kind of like when the album started to take shape in my head and kind of like the theme of it.

Moderator : Do you feel like you had, do you think, when you went back to Australia, and because, I know, you spend time here, and then, you kind of go back and forth, right? And obviously, on tour around the world, but do you feel like when you were kind of forced to be in Australia in one place for a longer time, do you feel like you got more connected with like the person Troye, versus, artist Troye? Do you know what I mean? When you shed those layers of like,
yeah, presenting yourself?

Sivan : Yeah, I don't know that I would have written this album, had it not have been for that, like weird year and a half of being at home, and like actually having a home, you know? And um, yeah, I credit Melbourne a lot in the album and um...I mean, I don't want to like use the album name in a sentence, but it really was, it was just me, realizing that like, Oh wow, everyone has something to offer, and all connection is like beautiful in its own way. I also, I came out of this very very very serious relationship. Um...that once I kind of realized that I was so terrified to kind of explore what other connections could look like, but I had, you know, these really really beautiful like meaningful experiences that felt so real as fleeting as they were. Sometimes it was like very fleeting. And I was like, Wait...
シヴァン：うん、あの奇妙な1年半の自宅生活、そして、実際に家を持つことができた経験がなかったら、このアルバムを書けなかったかもしれないな。それに、アルバムではメルボルンにたくさんクレジットされているし…アルバムタイトルの言葉を、安易に使いたくないんだけど、本当に、誰にでも何か提供できるものがあって、どんな繋がりもそれぞれに美しいんだって気づいたんだ。それに、すごくすごくすごく深刻な関係から、抜け出したしね。あの時、他の繋がりがどんな形になるのかを探るのが、すごく怖かった。でも、すごくすごく美しくて意味のある経験があって、それはすごくリアルで、でもそれはすごく束の間のものだった。すごく、束の間のように感じた。それで、ちょっと待って…って思った。

Sivan : Anyways, so it was, you know, I think just like realizing that there's value that in in all connection between people. I think it was just like such a such a huge moment for me. And it was honestly, I think I was just filled with so much hope, you know? I think about, like the shot in the 'Got Me Started' video, where I'm running down the street in like the Gucci suit and whatever. Um... the freedom.

Sivan : Yeah. Yeah. The freedom that I think that moment captures. That's like one of my favorite moments in the whole kind of visual world of this campaign. That's exactly how it felt. Like I just felt like I was barreling through the world encountering all of these different people, and all these different experiences, and I felt so, like hopeful, and um...it was really beautiful, and that was kind of like the starting point for everything.

Moderator : I feel like, you feel that, through the whole album, that there's this, like, appreciation for connection and love, and like, I say fleeting, however fleeting. And I think, that's something that's so interesting that we put like such value in like a time stamp on love, like even if it's short or long, and if a relationship ends after 5 years or two years or one year. It's still something that really mattered, and can be special, even if it ended.

Troye Sivan has announced details of a huge UK and European tour for 2024.
The tour is in support of Sivan’s acclaimed album ‘Something To Give Each Other’, which was released back in October. The record ? Sivan’s first in five years ? scored the Australian a glowing five-star review from Nick Levine for NME. Levine wrote: “It’s a strikingly vital pop album charged with love, lust, sweat and regret. You won’t need a bosh of poppers to feel thoroughly intoxicated.”
Hailed by The Guardian as "one of this year's best and most distinctive pop albums" and celebrated by Rolling Stone as "a pristine slice of pop heaven," the Something to Give Each Other Tour is destined to be Sivan 's biggest, boldest and brightest tour.
Sivan’s 17-date run will begin in Portugal on May 29, 2024, before continuing throughout Europe. Sivan arrives in the UK on June 22 at the Manchester AO Arena; the tour will conclude in Birmingham.Tickets for the shows go on sale on December 8 at 9am.

※Around age 18, secure in his identity, Sivan set the stage for his life to come with two videos: In May 2013, he posted an original song, inspired by the young adult best-seller The Fault in Our Stars, and in August, he came out to his followers. Both videos went viral. And then, so did he. Time magazine named him one of the 25 most influential teens of 2014. He walked in Hedi Slimane’s fall 2015 Saint Laurent menswear show. By 2016, he had over 4 million YouTube subscribers and was reportedly making upwards of six figures in sponsorships. “At that point,” he says, “I was just along for the ride.”

Sivan’s eight-minute, 17-second coming-out video is a rare thing, equal parts star power and vulnerable humanity. He had promised himself he would come out before signing a record deal, knowing it was the only way he could write music that would be completely honest. When pressed, he now says he briefly wondered if it might have lost him some young, infatuated female fans, but he “had no other choice. It was a moment where I was like, ‘I have to put myself first.’”（@「Billboard」誌）
