そこでスイスで初めて咳でダウンした私に与えられた三種の神器;

Trip to Bern - Emil Zbinden

It was almost a week ago, I had called up a Japanese lady of whom Tom got a contact from her husband while sitting next to each other with him on a plane back to Japan (rather complicating). Frau B is a Japanese lady who's been living in Switzerland for x0 years and I needed great help from a lady like Frau B who would know all about Switzerland.

She invited me over to this exhibition she was going with her Japanese friends, so I hopped in not knowing what will happen but I thought I could use half a day of my time out of gazillion time I have on my own.

My first time taking train to Bern from Haupt Bahnhof station, and here I was meeting with Frau B and I was also amazed to meet 4 other women all close to my mother's age (ssssshhhhh!!!), all who had married a Swiss man.

At the Kunstmuseum in Bern we introduced ourselves to an old man who guided us around the Emil Zbinden exhibition, which of course I had no idea who this Emil guy was, until I was told that the old man is the actual son of this artist. I felt very honored by the fact that the actual son had guided us around the exhibition to a strange group (I suppose) of 5 Asian women with no knowledge about this artist until just then.

I must say Emil Zbinden's work were quite impressive, a touch of humor and a very big message (sometimes political) behind them, and very very detailed considerering how woodcuts are craved in the most hardest wood. Unfortunate or fortunate he had already gained his reputation as one of the best woodcut artists back then and also created works almost until his sudden death that it doesn't have a touch of drama like van Gogh or Modigliani, but it was interesting enough to know a Swiss artist.

Adding to it, Frau B was so nice and charming that I would love to keep in contact with her!

Walking down Uetliberg

Had a quick up to Uetliberg on Saturday afternoon just to catch the rare sun in Zurich.

Here we were with surprising amount of snow and it was gorgeous!
