街一番の！？ブラットワースト

今日はトムと一緒にBellevueまで銀行口座開設に行ってきた。およそ30分後には手続き完了し、ちょうどお昼の時間だったのでそのすぐ並びにあるSternen Grill へブラットワーストを食しに。ここはまだ一回しか行ったことがなかったけれど、天気のいい日に食べるブラットワーストとビールがなんとおいしいことか！トムは「チューリッヒで一番おいしいブラットワースト」とほふりながら毎度のこと言っているし。実は私はまだ他で食べたことがないので「ベスト！」と言い切れることができないのだがどうやらこのたいそう簡単なブラットワーストでも焼き具合とかによって味が違ってくるそうな。「表面がカリッと焼きあがっているのに中身が柔らかくて・・・」なんてどこかのCMで聞こえてきそうなことをトムは言っているが確かにここのはそんな感じ。

ちなみにパンはBurli とか言う硬いパンで、必ず一個ついてくる。このパンとソーセージの組み合わせでお腹一杯になるのか最初は疑問だったんだけれど、これが満腹になってしまうのには驚き。一体どれくらいのカロリーなんだろう・・・。

と、不安になったので食後に運動がてら記念すべき我がチーズブログのネタのため、以前から計画されていたところへ向かうことにした。Jelmoli　という中心街にあるデパートの、いわゆるデパ地下に私が感動したチーズのセクションがあるのだ。

観光客のふりして撮りましたー。当初ここを発見して感動したんだけれど、ちょっと大きめのスーパーに行くとここまでは行かずともチーズがたくさん陳列されているショーケースはあるので毎度のこと関心してしまう。

さて、ここから私のチーズブログに掲載される記念すべきチーズ第一号は！！？？

The BEST Bratwurst in town – Sternen Grill

The best Bratwurst in town is the Sternen Grill in Bellevue, is so they say. I will have to try some other Bratwurst in town someday and see why the one in Bellevue is just best in town. It was on a sunny Wednesday noon when I went there with Tom to have lunch there, and as expected the place was crowded. There are people everywhere munching away on the sausage and bread. But hey, there are business men in suits and tie casually having it but with beer as well…I could not resist but to ask Tom how common in Switzerland to enjoy a casual alcohol during lunch, like the “power-lunch” that he had the other day when he was on a day trip to Alsace and he got invited by his French client which started from Champagne, White and then Red in a matter of 1.5 hours. “Course, not like that, but maybe when you have no meetings in the afternoon, and when it’s a great day outside…” Yes, that’s universally a common or a natural way of thinking, I remember I did that sometime before in Tokyo as well!

Full with the lunch I had, I went off to Jelmoli to take a picture of something I always had in mind – the one that will come as my first picture to start off my cheese blog.

Acting tourist (or I am still) the ladies behind the cheese showcase accepted my request, so I took a quick picture of what's already shown above.

My Chäss Blog

German doesn't go a long way, but the Umlaut does, since the time myself had the shocking encounter with KG and JW, working in the middle of an empty office floor somewhere in Tokyo who had taught me what umlaut was back then, from what the topic had derived from the heavy metal band called Umlaut, or Mötley Crue. Or was that already the time I had officially became the team member with them, my memory isn't that clear now, but anyway, leaving Tokyo and here I am in Zurich, Switzerland surrounded by Swiss of course, and have just started my life here.

Currently on a long vacation and I am completely unemployed until 11th August, and I here wanted to create a blog of my own to write down a complete nonsense and all the small things I see that fascinates me on the everyday life in Switzerland. Course, the name would be as simple as my Cheese Blog, but then the ameblog doesn't give me any chance of putting my title correct - It's "Chäss" Blog WITH AN UMLAUT. How depressing is it to see as if I've got a typo on my title blog. So I wanted to make things clear on my first writing on my blog.

My Cheese Blog will contain all the cheese information I will eat going forward and to explore what my favorite cheese would be, however I would hope that as I boldly disclose this blog to some families and friends, I do hope that this will somehow connect between me and those in Japan so they will know my life here as well as how the Zurich/Swiss life is like. 　待ちに待ってました、自分のブログ。気合入れて前々からどんなブログにしてやろうかと考えていた割にはチューリッヒに到着してからというもの、体調を崩したままおよそ2週間がたとうとし、ようやく回復の兆しが見えてきた。チューリッヒの天気はここ最近快晴の毎日で、夜9時くらいまで明るい外での一杯や食事が楽しめるというのにも関わらず、自分はというと処方された薬を服用し、アルコールのストップが入り、指をくわえてみんなが食べているものを恨めしそうに見ている状況だったが今日くらいからグイグイと力が湧き上がってきている感じがなんとなくする。ようやくこのブログの名にふさわしく、あらゆるチーズを試してここに書きしたためることができそうだ。ホッ。
