『震災復興 啓示三百八（平成２８年熊本地震復興第二十五）』（２０１７年第十三信）として、 日本国民の皆様にお伝えします。

For a thousand years or more,

Which has passed through numerous autumns.

成功にはほど遠い今
On the twentieth day,
I saw the waning moon,

悲惨な現実に涙を流す
A Japanese mind,
Having been able to sacrifice itself to the truth,

純粋な精神性で
真実に対しては自己犠牲を潔しとしていた
しかし、 今はもう失われている
How sad it is!
A beautiful flower,
Blooming on the ground,
Weeping over such a miserable reality.
何んと悲しいことか
悲惨な現実に涙しながらも
地上では
美しい花が咲き誇っている
⇒ ２０１７年の現在、 日本国の有り様は如何であろうか。 国の運営者達は矜持を失い、 低レベルの自己満足に塗れている。 大臣に相当する人物はいない。 奇しくも、 ２０年前の俳句が言い当てていた。
This page has been made by Tamotsu Yuba (a Haiku teacher) and Thackery to bridge the world through Haiku(俳句). Tamotsu Yuba's Haiku will be translated into English by Thackery in a way of composing a poem.
このページは弓場保氏（俳句の先生）とThackeryにより俳句を通して世界の橋渡しをするために作られました。 俳人・弓場保氏の俳句は、 Thackeryが英詩を創作する形で、 英語に置き換えられていきます。 この手法はThackery独特のものであり、 新しい境地を開くものとして、 京都教育大学・山木教授に賞賛されました。

１）Hearing from my friend, studying at Jiaotong university, China
交通大学・中国で研究している私の友からの便り
My friend is now studying Chinese at Jiaotong university in Shanghai, China. In Japan we were studying Chinese together under my Chinese friend who is studying architecture at Osaka city university, where I had been studying an English literature and German in my twenties. In the coffee shop we had been talking about our life target, philosophy, arts, etc. Really enjoyable at that time. Now from China he is going to tell me his experience. When back in Japan after studying there next time, he would be bigger in many ways. I hope we'll be able to make our unique home page while he is in China. Go to the home page on China in general.

お元気ですか? 長らくご無沙汰して申し訳ありません｡ こちらへ来てまもなく2ケ月となります｡ ようやく精神的にも落ち着いてきました｡
いろんな事がありましたが､ とにかく上海という街､ 中国が本当に好きになり､ 充実感一杯で､ 毎日が楽しくて仕方がありません｡ 北京､ 南京と旅行をしましたが､ 旅行の度に上海へ帰りたいなあと思うほど､ もはや上海が第二の故郷という感じでしょうか｡
今はＹさんが住んでいるのと同じ所に住んでいます｡ 9月にｵｰﾌﾟﾝして僕が最初の入居者となり､ Ｙさんは僕の部屋の方がいいと言っています｡
中国人の友達も大勢でき､ 中国語の方もかなり上達しました｡ あくまでも自分の評価ですが｡
大学も広く､ ｷｬﾝﾊﾟｽを優雅に友達と闊歩する毎日です｡ ﾒｰﾙも使えるようになりましたので､ 今後共情報交換を是非させて頂きたいと思っております｡

How have you been? Sorry not to have written a letter to you for a long time. It will be two months soon since I came here. I'm getting stable mentally and feeling at home here in Shanghai. Before settling down there were a lot of things to do. But, now I've got to really like Shanghai or China. Full of satisfaction and pleasure everyday. Although I've already travelled around Beijing and Nanjing, I felt like going back to Shanghai soon almost like my second home town.
I am now living at the same housing complex as Mr. Y's. He says my room is better than his. I am the first resident to have entered that room newly opened in September.
Now I have a lot of Chinese friends, and my Chinese ability has been remarkably improved, though it is my self evaluation.
This university is very wide, and I'm strolling around the campus in a graceful manner together with my friends. My E-mail has been ready for our communication. I hope we'll be able to exchange our information each other, me from China and you from Japan.
Please let me know how you are doing in Japan next time. Just for my greeting towards you. So long for now.

Great Wall
万里の長城
Si Mar Tai
司馬台長城
Being a great military defence work in ancient China, it is one of the famous cultural historic sites of the world. The construction project began in the Warring States Period, and additions were made by ensuing dynasties. Starting from Shanghai Pass in the east and reaching Jiayu Pass (Gansu Province) in the west, the Great Wall is grand and imposing with passes, beacon towers and castles all along the line. I walked along the great wall which is the most well preserved one almost close to an original, called "Si Mar Tai", for six hours. Really felt a long Chinese history from the bottom of my soul and body. What a great work they did generation after generation! Almost stunned by its greatness.
万里の長城は、 古代中国に於ける大きな軍事防衛のためのものであり、 世界で有名な文化的で歴史的な場所の一つです。 万里の長城建設プロジェクトは戦国時代に始まり、 後に続く王朝が引き継いでいきました。 東方は上海の関所に始まり、 西方は甘粛省嘉峪の関所に至る万里の長城は壮大で数々の関所、 標識塔、 城を道中に有していました。 “司馬台長城”と呼ばれる元型に近く、 最も保存状態の良い万里の長城に沿って６時間歩きました。 長い中国の歴史を心底から感じました。 何世代にも亘って何んと偉大な事業を成し遂げたことか。 その偉大さに感動し、 痺れました。
※Warring States period（戦国時代）： 中国の戦国時代は、春秋時代に続く時代で、紀元前403年に晋が韓・魏・趙の3つの国に分かれてから、紀元前221年に秦による中国統一がなされるまでをいう。
In front of the Tian'anmen Gate
天安門の前で
This was the main entrance to the imperial palace in Ming and Qing Dynasties. With up-turning double eaves, carved beams and painted rafters, as well as yellow tiles and grey walls, the gate tower looks solemn, and the golden and green surroundings present a magnificent scene when looking down from high above. In the past, emperors held ceremonies here to promulgate edicts for important celebrations. On October 1, 1949, Chairman Mao Zedong proclaimed, from the rostrum of Tian'anmen, the founding of the People's Republic of China, and the Gate has since become the symbol of New China.
ここは明清王朝時代には宮殿への表玄関でした。 上に向かう二重の軒、 カーブしている梁、 着色した垂木、 黄色のタイル、 灰色の壁を有し、 門の塔は荘厳で、 高い上から下を見下ろすと、 金色と緑色の周囲は壮大な雰囲気を醸し出しています。 昔は皇帝が重要な祝い事を公布するためにここで儀式を執り行いました。 １９４９年１０月１日に、 毛沢東主席は天安門の指揮台から中華人民共和個設立を宣言し、 爾来その門は新中国のシンボルになりました。

Together with my friends, I enjoyed looking around historic monuments. What invaluable treasures they are!
友と一緒に歴史的な記念建造物を見て回りました。 何んと素晴らしい宝物であることか。
In front of the Purple Forbidden Castle
紫禁城の前で
Also known as Palace Museum, it was the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Covering an area of over 720,000 square metres and with more than 9,000 bays of rooms, it is the largest and best preserved ancient construction group that exists in China. Looking down from the sky, the Palace Museum presents a magnificent scene – towering halls and overlapping palaces comprise a resplendent "Seas of Castles". The construction of the palace began in 1406. 24 emperors ruled in the ensuing 500 and more years. Palace Museum is not only the artistic cream of ancient Chinese architecture, but also a historical museum that keeps a great amount of precious cultural relics.
宮殿博物館としても知られており、 明清王朝時代の宮殿でした。 720,000平方メーター以上の面積と9,000以上の部屋（張間）を有し、 中国に現存する最も大きく最良の保存状態にある古代建造物群です。 空から見下ろすと、 宮殿博物館は壮大な風景を呈しています。 つまり、 高く聳えるホールと重なり合う宮殿は光り輝く“城の海”を醸し出しています。 宮殿の建設は１４０６に始まりました。 ２４人の皇帝が引き続き５００年以上に亘って治めていました。 宮殿博物館は古代中国の芸術的な面を持つだけでなく、 多くの貴重で文化的な遺跡を保存する歴史的な博物館です。

蘇州大学・中国からの便り
This page is going to start with authorization from Ms. Peiya Gu, an Associate Professor, Director of English Department at the Suzhou university. Thackery was introduced to her by her former student who is now studying English at Osaka Women's College in Osaka. We hope our collaboration will be able to transmit various information on not only English, but oriental culture, etc. to our readers from all over the world.

For the time being she has so many responsibilites, including administrative duties as Director of their English Dept and head of their multimedia lab, that she is not able to do the collaboration with Thackery. My Canadian friend introduced me to a British lady who lives in Codsall near Wolverhampton, not far from Birmingham, United Kingdom. She likes Art & Design, and is learning about impressionists, study and draw in their technique. Her sister is now studying for a combined honours degree in psychology and art at Northampton University. Two sisters are going to tell Thackery something about United Kindom. She is really interested in Japan and oriental things.

On November 3, 1997 we went to the Arashiyama in Kyoto to enjoy the beautiful maple. But it was a little bit early to see it. After strolling around the river side for a while, we went to Myoshinji temple, and found the attractive maple garden. Took a picture of my wife and son for our memory.
１９９７年１１月３日に美しい紅葉を楽しむために京都嵐山に行った。 しかし、 少しばかり時期が早かった。 しばらく川沿いで散歩した後、 妙心寺に行き、 魅力的な紅葉の庭を見つけた。 思い出に残すべく、 妻と息子の写真を撮った。
