1)As for “COVID-19” a heartfelt message came from Danielle Steel

Being confined, locked down, and isolated — and in many cases entirely alone — is an enormous new challenge for all of us experiencing it. It affects us all, in every country, in every walk of life, from every kind of background, in every kind of job. This virus respects no one and affects us all. Being in solitary confinement is a very new experience for me and has turned my favorite place into the biggest challenge of all. My work as a writer is solitary, but there’s a big difference between choosing to be solitary to accomplish something and to suddenly be isolated in a lockdown situation, being deprived of the people and places and activities which we enjoy and so easily take for granted. We have to sacrifice those things now for a short time, for the safety and health of the entire world. We take both our freedom and our health for granted — until suddenly we lose them, or they are seriously at risk, as they are now.

I realize when I think about it, that I have never lived alone. I married at seventeen and went from my father’s home to my husband’s. My oldest daughter was born two years later and from then on, even once I was no longer married, I was never alone again. I always had my daughter for company. And when I married again — and eventually over time during an 18-year marriage became the mother of ninethere was never a moment of solitude: far from it!!! And with a house full of kids, ranging from teenagers to infants, there wasn’t a chance that I would live alone for a long, long time. One by one, they grew up and many left: to college, jobs, and other cities. And I’m lucky enough to still have my youngest daughter living at home. So pretty much since I was seventeen, I’ve never lived alone, and by some weird quirk of fate, I wound up a continent away from all my children during this pandemic and now — under lockdown — I find myself alone. The hardest part of the confinement is, of course, worrying about my children — and the threat of illness for us all — but a huge challenge has also been facing a hard experience with no one to share it with, to talk to, to bolster and reassure me, or my being able to take care of and reassure them. The solitude makes it a thousand times harder — and the worry about my kids. And for the first time ever, I am resoundingly alone. My kids are in other cities and countries, and the country which has given me a happy second home for so many years is now the location of my greatest fear, solitude, and loneliness. It gives me new compassion for people who live alone, even when we are not in a pandemic. And perhaps the lesson I needed and will learn now is how to live with that solitude with grace — and be better because of it when this is all over. Maybe each of us will learn something during the crisis that we needed to know and would never have learned otherwise.

For everyone’s sake, I hope that everyone will comply with the rules of their confinement, and follow them, I pray that people will be safe and rapidly regain their health all around the globe. And I hold out my hand and my heart now to all of you living through this hard experience alone, with no one to talk to, or make you smile or laugh, or reassure you that things will be okay. Things WILL be okay: we will survive and we will learn the hard lessons and the easy ones from this. This won’t last forever, and we will be free again and reunited with the people we cherish, our loved ones, families, and friends. And until that sweet reunion, even in the silence or loneliness of the confinement, it is for the good of all to deprive the virus of the connections and contacts it needs to make us sick. Let’s starve the virus out of existence and stand strong. And from now on, I will have even greater respect for people who live in solitary confinement in normal times. I wish you grace and peace wherever the confinement finds you, for the lockdown that goes so against the grain, since as people we all need “connection” with people who are like-minded, whom we love, can talk to, and who make us laugh. Give us the strength to get through this hard, frightening time, with patience, courage, wisdom, perseverance and poise. We CAN do it, and — we will.

May God bless you, and all of us, at this very challenging time.

Love,

2)My response to COVID-19

I would like to thank Ms. Danielle Steel for having sent us her message to COVID-19 like that ”This won’t last forever, and we will be free again and reunited with the people we cherish, our loved ones, families, and friends. We CAN do it, and — we will.”

(1) ”it is for the good of all to deprive the virus of the connections and contacts it needs to make us sick. Let’s starve the virus out of existence and stand strong.”

I agree with her idea on COVID-19, while it seems to me that the virus gave us the chance to think over how important it is for us to unite each other as one team all over the world for coping with problems on the earth.  There are still various kinds of viruses to cope with.

(2) Being united each other among nations

COVID-19 taught us on how important it would be to cooperate each other in terms of international economy and diplomacy. As Ms. Danielle Steel mentinoned in her message, “our loved ones, families, and friends” are important or indispensable in our life.

(3) “Our country first”: the worst idea

“Our country first” idea is the worst one to destroy relationships among nations and make people isolated into solitude as viruses do.

So much so far, this time.  Thank you very much for your kind attention.

A million thanks to all of you— straight from my heart!!! And if you haven’t read it yet, I hope you do read it soon and you LOVE it!!!

The New York Times Best Seller list

The New York Times Best Seller list is widely considered the preeminent list of best-selling books in the United States. Published weekly in The New York Times Book Review, the best-seller list has been published in the Times since October 12, 1931. In recent years it has evolved into multiple lists in different categories, grouped as fiction and non-fiction, hardcover, paperback, electronic, and by various genres.

The list is based on a proprietary method that use sales figures, other data and internal guidelines that are unpublished — how the Times compiles the list is a trade secret. In 1983 (as part of a legal argument) the Times stated that the list is not mathematically objective but rather editorial content. In 2017, a Times representative said that the goal is that the lists reflect authentic best sellers. The list has been the source of controversy over the years.

2)My request to Danielle Steel

Is it possible to communicate with you on various problems on the earth, especially on “World Peace and Happiness”? If it is OK with you, I would like to ask you to compose a novel or story in connection with “World Peace and Happiness”.

Thank you very much for your kind attention for a long time. It’s really appreciated!!!

3)The reason why approaching famous people is required

There are various people in the world. For example, 『People, being good at gathering money(fund)』, 『People, leading a life of dissipation on the coattails of parents』, 『People, leading a life for helping the disadvantaged』, 『People, leading a life for Nobel Prize-winning research』, and so on.

I would like to lead a life for “World Peace and Happiness”. Against “COVID-19”, threatening human beings’ world now, I have my own idea to solve. It is “immunity” of human beings given intrinsically. That is, the importance of “physical and mental training every day” before being attacked by the virus.

And now, “The reason why approaching famous people is required”.  Although I have my own idea in mind on “World Peace and Happiness, I have almost nothing as for money(fund).  Therefore, I have to approach people with abundant fund. The other day I tried to approach them. But, favorable response could not be obtainedI have decided to communicate with world-famous people. I would like to make strenuous efforts for my life target.

So much so far, this time.  Thank you very much for your kind attention.

1)A letter after a long time from Danielle Steel on March 4, 2020

You can find something about Danielle Steel written on July 29, 2017 in my blog under “天の声(360) 日本国の再生(333) 光(326) 故郷(103) 現役寿命(93)” – miraculously that blog page was the first one for “solving the contradiction of this world through placing the truth as the core to think.”

It was written as follows:

Before closing my English Home Page having been written since August 7, 1997, I would like to transfer it to this Ameba blog page for my memory. It took 18 days from July 11 to July 28 to complete transferring all pages.

While translating my English text into Japanese, various thoughts surged up. Originally I wanted to write a novel in English. Through that motivation I encountered English novels written by an American novelist, Danielle Steel who is very famous in the world and her novels being translated into Japanese even in Japan, and she had been listed up in the “Guinness Book of Records” as her all works got the best seller no.1 for 7.3 years consecutively. Since then, I have read through almost her all books from the beginning with her first novel to following ones, while nearby library has bought them for me. Of course, books written in English – original ones.

During the period when I was reading her books, I was able to reach her through an E-mail. At first through her office, and thereafter her private mail. Before encountering her, I composed one novel in English. But, the computer storing it was broken away, and its data vanished with pictures. How regretting it is! But, still left in my mind vividly. There may be  manuscript copies left somewhere in my house. Almost impossible to be found.

Now, oriental medicines lie at the center of my life. Every morning near the park I am practicing “Qigong” and “Taijiquan(traditional Chinese pugilism). At a certain day 73 years old man appeared in front of me, and I’ve got to know he is suffering from “asthma”. I began to teach him how to practice “Qigong”. I hope he’ll be cured at the time when he could master “Qigong”, and I am sure of it in mind.

2)Danielle Steel’s message on March 4, 2020

The holidays seem a lonnnggggg time behind us, don’t they?? And hopefully, with March, a faint promise of spring, depending on where you live. All my cities will still be cold for a while!!!! It’s always a good time to read—whatever the weather—either curled up with a book in winter, or lying on the beach or under a tree in summer.

I have TWO books coming out this month. My new hardcover, The Numbers Game, comes out today! It was an interesting concept to write about and bring to life. At every age, we feel limited by something. We wait anxiously to finish high school and be considered an “adult,” as though the whole world will change when we turn eighteen. And if you go off to college, you think life will REALLY start when you turn twenty-one or graduate.

We look for those landmarks to tell us how grown-up we are—and wait for doors to open magically. But as time goes on, you realize that you have to make your own magic. In our twenties, we’re often confused, and think that we’ll know everything in our thirties. And people still treat you like a kid in your twenties, which is frustrating. In your thirties you feel more confident and sure of yourself, but then suddenly forty is staring you in the face, and for women especially, you start worrying about getting old. Already? You just got to feeling good about life, and now you have to worry that maybe the best part is over? (It isn’t over, that’s the whole point of my book!!). If you’ve made some mistakes in your personal life, they may haunt you in your forties. A lot of marriages break up then—and then you have to start all over. A new life, a new home, maybe a new job or a new city. It’s actually exciting!! And fifty is even scarier than forty. And on and on it goes, we always feel either too young or too old for something.

Can you change careers, marry again, start a new business; are you too old or too young for a particular relationship, or job, or career, or life? At what age do you feel grown up enough to have children? And at what age do people think you're too old for a job you want? We’re always chasing the numbers, or they’re chasing us. And finally, you realize and decide that maybe those numbers just don’t matter. I know people who are young in their seventies, still vital and working and creative in their eighties, and others who seem lifeless in their thirties or forties. It’s all about the life force we have, the energy, the courage to try new things. This book is really about the fact that age really doesn’t matter. Some people refuse to be daunted by age. My favorite character in the book is a sculptress who has a full life, a busy career, and a youthful outlook on life in her eightiesshe lives with a “younger man” in his seventies, and they’re crazy about each other!! We’re never too old for life or love, or being productive, if we want to be. Age is just a number, it’s not who you are!!! I hope you love the book—it’s liberating!!!

And at the end of the month, "Lost and Found" is out in paperback, about a very successful photographer who finds a box of old love letters in her closet, and begins to wonder if she made the right decision about the three most important men in her life. She hasn’t seen any of them for years and, after some tension with her children, she takes off on a driving trip cross country to see those three men again—and see who they've become—and if she was right to leave them. Her driving trip is an adventure, and she learns a great deal, not just about those men but also about herself. I hope you’ll love that book, too.

Have a great month, and I hope you’ll love these two books!!! They’re both very special— and may give you some new insights about life and how you see things.

Love,

Danielle
