レバノン料理タブレのレシピです。
ヘルシーでめちゃはまります。
味付けはレモンと塩こしょうに、少しお好みで醤油をプラスするといい感じです。
ホームステイに来たRickのおばあちゃんがレバノン出身で、オリジナルレシピをメールで書いてくれました。
Here is the recipe for tabouleh (wheat salad). I will write it out for you and add some explanations.
Tabouleh - Lebanese wheat salad.
list of ingredients:
1 cup of cracked wheat (also known as bulgar wheat) - maybe your grocery store has some?
2 large bunches of parsley
6 green onions (the kind with the long green stems)
1 large cucumber
1 cup of chick peas
a small handful of mint leaves
4 large tomatoes (or you can use a can of tomatoes that are chopped or diced). The liquid in the can is OK.
3 large lemons - squeeze them into juice
½ cup of light olive oil
a little salt & pepper
directions:
1. soak the wheat in LOTS of hot water for about one hour. The wheat will soak up the water very strongly.
2. Squeeze the wheat by hand to remove the excess water and place the wheat into a large mixing bowl.
This part will be messy and it is no fun. You want to get rid of the excess water and save only the moist wheat.
3. Chop up the parsley very finely and add the parsley to the wheat in the bowl.
4. Chop up the onions, cucumber, mint leaves, and tomatoes and add them to the bowl.
If you used chopped tomatoes in a can, there will be some liquid in there. It is OK to add that liquid to the bowl.
5. Add the chick peas to the bowl. Mix everything together.
6. In a separate small bowl mix the olive oil and lemon juice together. Mix it together thoroughly.
7. Pour the olive oil & lemon juice mixture over the rest of the ingredients and mix it all together thoroughly.
8. Add a little salt and pepper…. add the amount that you like.
Now cover the bowl with plastic wrap and put it into the refrigerator. It is best when it is served cold.
We would eat it with Lebanese bread, the flat pita bread. Maybe you have that in your grocery store?
It is very healthy.
