当ブログ管理人は戦後80年となる2025年、三月から四月にかけてソロモン諸島の戦跡調査と慰霊の旅へ行ってまいりました。
現地に残る戦争遺物・遺構の姿を同行者と共に撮影した写真集を出版いたしました。
敗戦の日まで戦い続けた南冥の最前線ソロモン諸島、山本五十六長官が目指し着陸が叶わなかったバラレ飛行場と海軍水上機地ショートランドの現在を紹介する写真集が出来上がりました。

バラレ飛行場には一式陸上攻撃機、零式艦上戦闘機、飛行場設営用の土木機械、ショートランドには戦友の建立した慰霊碑、零式観測機、電波探信儀、側車付二輪、高角砲などが今も残る。圧巻はポポラングの日本軍対空陣地を攻撃した米軍無人攻撃機ドローンTDR1の残骸。糧なく増援なき南冥の最前線の現在を感じていただけると思います。

At Shortland, memorials erected by comrades, Zero Observation Aircraft, radio direction finders, sidecar motorcycles, and anti-aircraft guns still stand. The most striking sight is the wreckage of the US Army Air Forces TDR1 drone attack aircraft that struck the Japanese anti-aircraft positions at Popolang. This volume invites you to feel the present reality of the southern front lines, isolated and without supplies or reinforcements.
