PHPの話題もやりたいと思ってますがね～
来月にはソフトウェア開発技術者試験があるのでそれの勉強してます・・・
多分落ちそうだがね～

A term life policy can be renewed, but at a higher price.
より高い金額を支払えば、タームライフ保険の年齢を更新できる。

Whole life insurance costs more.
終身保険はより費用がかかりる。

It also pays if a person dies.
その保険は人が死亡したときもまた支払われる。

But whole life policies gain value as savings over time.
しかし、終身保険は時間がたつにつれて貯蓄として増えていく。

The policyholder can borrow against this value in the form of a loan.
被保険者はローン契約時にこの値に対してお金を借りることができる。

When people buy life insurance, the insurer invests the payments in bonds, stocks and other financial products.
人々が生命保険を購入したとき、保険会社は債券、株式、または他の金融商品に投資する。

The Insurance Information Institute in New York says traditional life insurance is still an important part of the industry.
ニューヨークの保険情報協会は、伝統的な生命保険はいまだに保険業界の重要な一部となっていると言っている。

But it says the main business now is in annuities.
しかし、今主要な取引になっているのは年金であると言っている。

年金は退職年金pensionの意味じゃないので注意！
「年単位で終身にわたって支払われる年金をいう」とのこと。
最初の1文の訳が微妙ですねぇ。
元来英語は得意じゃないもので。
年金とか債券とか損害保険、終身保険などの英語は覚えておくといいですね！

リスニングがかなりキビいですね。
あの速さにはついていけません。
ビジネス用語をもっと覚えないといけんな～
warehouseとかinvoiceとか。

Insurance is a guarantee against financial loss.
保険は経済的な損失に対する保障です。

Insurance policies can be bought for all sorts of things.
保険証はさまざまな種類の物のために買われます。

The most common kinds of insurance include life, health and property.
最も一般的なのは、生命や健康や財産の保険です。

For example, an insurance company will pay to repair or replace the property if it is damaged or stolen.
例えば、保険会社はもし財産が破損したり盗まれたりしたら、修理するか交換するかするでしょう。

How much a company will pay in the event of a claim depends on how much insurance the policyholder has bought.
いくら保険会社がその件について支払うかは、保険契約者がいくら保険をかったかによって決まります。

The amount may also depend on the conditions that led to the damage.
支払い総額は、損害につながった条件によるかもしれません。

The Insurance Information Institute says Americans paid forty-nine thousand million dollars for homeowners insurance in two thousand three.
保険情報協会は、アメリカ人は2003あるマイホーム所有者保険で490億ドルを支払っていると伝えています。

The payments that policyholders make to an insurance company are called premiums.
保険契約者が保険会社にする支払いをプレミアムと呼びます。

Premiums for car insurance totaled sixty-five thousand million.

Insurance is an ancient idea.

conditionは状態という意味以外に条件という意味があります。
on condition that ～ で「～という条件」という意味になります。
電気情報のS教授が、condition numberをほとんどの学生が
「条件数」ではなく「状態数」と訳していておキレになったそうです・・・
気をつけよう！

Marburg Virus Outbreak

明日TOEIC受けないかんのがちょっとダルイ・・・
６０００円もったいないから当然受けに行くけど。
今日も英語の勉強してみる。
今日はアンゴラで起こったお話。

「Marburg Virus Outbreak Spreads to Angolan Capital」

In Angola, a deadly outbreak of a rare hemorrhagic fever has spread to the capital, Luanda.
アンゴラで、珍しい出血熱の致命的な発生が首都ルアンダまで広がっている。

The Marburg virus epidemic first erupted in the north of the country and has already killed at least 113 people.
マールブルクウイルスによる伝染病は、最初に国の北部で発生し、すでに少なくとも１１３人が死亡した。

The provincial health director in the Angolan capital says two people have died of Marburg virus in Luanda,
アンゴラの首都の町の保健局長はルアンダで二人がマールブルクウイルスによって亡くなったと伝えている。

including an Italian doctor who had been treating Marburg-infected patients in the northern province of Uige, where the epidemic first emerged.

Health officials say at least three other cases of the deadly virus have been diagnosed in the capital, all in people who traveled to Luanda from Uige.

So far, nobody is known to have contracted the disease in the capital.

contractの意外な使い方に注目。

卒業式！

今日は大学の卒業式です。
先輩たちのお祝いに行って、写真を撮ってきました。
自分も1年後は卒業やわ。はやいね～
まあ、修士もあるからあと3年ってところだけど。

今日は研究室の最終決定日でもあります。
１次選考とメンツ変わってないわ～
ちょっと変わってたら面白かったのにね。

掲示板を見ると、早速呼び出しがかかってました。
しかも、飲み会の連絡まで！
新歓コンパは４年生はタダ！とまで書いてありました。
掲示板にそんなことまで書くなんて・・・さすが福田研究室！
俺は飲めんっちゅうに～

まだ余震が続いてますね～
地震なんて覚えてるのは小学生のときの震度４の地震くらいですよ。
今週だけで１０回以上は感じました。

今週末にTOEICを控えている身ですが、まったく勉強せず・・・
ソウダ！ブログのネタにして英語を勉強しよう！と言うことで、

A powerful earthquake, followed by numerous aftershocks, shook southern Japan Sunday morning.
日曜の朝、南日本を大きな地震が襲い、余震が何度も起こりました。

数百人が負傷しました。

The magnitude 7 quake was felt as far away as South Korea.

Seismologists at the agency say this is the strongest quake to hit Kyushu in nearly 18 years.
