Reconnect & RenewWellness Retreat in Shimoda—with Dominica Serigano and Yuko SugetaJune 3-5, 2022下田でのウェルネス合宿のご案内です。専門用語などは日本語でもサポートさせていただきますが、基本的には英語のみでのご案内となります。日常英会話能力ぐらいでわかる簡単な英語で〜す! Yay!! I can finally share this exciting news. Come join us at the beach for fun weekend of yoga and self-careThe beauty of Eastern Medicine in general, is to treat “pre-symptomatic illness”.It is called 未病治 Mibyouchi in Japanese. 未 Mi is “Not Yet”病 Byou is “Illness”.治 Chi is “Cure” or “Treat”.For example , imagine you are an airplane flying in the sky. The left engine might be providing just 1% less thrust than the right one. Or the right wing might be tilting just 1 degree lower than it should be. And you are unaware of this imbalance, as of yet….Western medicine can check each part and fix it only after it shows signs of danger, which often might be too late….In contrast , Eastern medicine checks the balance holistically, and gently adjusts any imbalance before it shows any sign of danger. You will learn this ancient wisdom of Mibyouchi during this retreat, and discover the therapist within yourself. Reconnect & RenewIn the past several years, our lives have been changed drastically. It has not always been for the worse, yet one thing that is certain is the fact that we are now quite separated from each other. Separated from families, friends and colleagues. Separated from your favorite yoga teacher’s physical adjustments. Even in my acupuncture clinic, therapists now wears gloves and a face shield over a mask. In this whirlpool that has been the pandemic, many of us lost touch with ourselves. Thus, my co-teacher, Dominica came up with the theme of the retreat, Reconnect and Renew. What we actually do at the retreat? This 3-day retreat centers on health, happiness and learning to view ourselves holistically. In several sessions beginning Friday afternoon, we will study our anatomy, both from eastern and western perspectives, and practice yoga, including asana, restoratives and pranayama.I will teach about the twelve meridians/energy channels of the body and self-massage techniques that you can do to target acupoints. We will also learn about the connective tissue of the body and its role in eastern anatomy, and yoga asanas. Dominica Serigano, one of the most knowledgeable yoga teachers in Japan, will teach the yoga classes. Centering on the energetic body, eastern anatomy is functional and integrative. Western anatomy is organic and physical. Yoga practices affect both the physical and energetic bodies. We will explore how to integrate this understanding to experience more holistic lives. The weekend is designed to be both educational and rejuvenating. In addition to learning eastern anatomy and yoga practices, you can enjoy the onsen at the Shimoda View Hotel, connect or reconnect with people that share a passion for healthy living, and renew your commitment to learning ways to maintain wellness for yourself and the ones you love. For inquiry, please visit the link below. ↓Movement Evolution Shimoda Retreat
