During the Second World War, my father who was 7 y.o. was evacuated by his mother (my grandma) to the small town of Tairadate in Iwate.

78 years later, I was able to visit the station where my grandma left him with her acquaintance and returned to air-raided Tokyo with the uncertainty of what the war might bring. At the end of the war, she returned to this station to pick him up.

The view behind the unmanned station, Mt. Iwate and the fields, must have been almost the same 78 years ago.

My late grandma often told me that when she had gone back, my father had spotted her from faraway, and run into her arms and kept crying.
