TEST for the speaking ability

I took a test by Versant English TEST, it was a telephone interview, took me 18 min.

As it was done through the telephone, sometimes it's hard to understand the voice clearly.

But in our daily life, where on earth is the place with no sound?

We absolutely have to grab the active listening ability under noisy situation.

My score was 68. (score range 20 -80, highest)


In this regard, TOEIC listening test might be an abnormal situation, which means it has no noise. COMPLETE silence.

Suppose we are on the train, we frequently hear all the noises coming from surroundings such as a signal sound from the station staff, people's laughters and talkings, the sound of the train's running itself..you name it.

Yet we somehow employ the conversation smoothly in our native language.


The TOEIC listening test naturally proves your listening comprehension, but in our harsh reality with all these noises, it might be much harder to listen precisely to what your friends or superiors are saying to you and to respond to them quickly and approapriately.


The Test includes several parts;

1, Making sentenses by given words and phrases

2, Open questions and answers

3, Repeat sentenses=we have to retain the sentenses as much as possible

4, Reading ramdomly follwed by the instruction

5, Story telling= 3 stories are spoken for just one time.

First, we hear the story, then we retell.

6, sentense builds


It says VOCABURARY means as belows.

Vocabulary reflects the ability to understand common everyday words spoken in sentence context and to produce such words as needed. Performance depends on familiarity with the form and meaning of everyday words and their use in connected speech




Global Era

I suppose that most Japanese employees including you are indeed
earnest, sincere, self-motivated, knowledgeable, skilled and devoted.
Despite all these abilities, in this global era, we are outpaced by Korea, China.
As it's said recently, is it only due to the lack of English speaking ability?
I suppose it's not the only reason, but definitely contributing to some extent.
First, the mental attitude toward a negotiation, for example
must be forwarded, outgoing, logically enough to persuade
when speaking English.
When we make explanations about the product's superior quality to counterpart from other cultures,
it's no time to hold back opinions as we are employed in Japanese conversation.
Secondly, it's crucially important to have background knowledge and expertise to be sufficient
make the discussion smooth.
Thirdly, then, I think it's the vocabulary what counts.

EIKAIWA

At the 2004 Democratic Party Convention Mr.Obama was nobody, but he made a brilliant speech which made audiences cry in every emotions. In due course, he made himself as the President of United States.


This 'HOPE' speech is what we learned at the school FORWARD.

I attended the trial lesson there the other day.

It was all English class for a full day , from the moment one enters in this school, one is forbidden to speak in our language.

Tha't nicer, I really like this style.


The prominent speech style we learned was to :

1, put emphasis upon pivotal term

2, this phrase must be cited repeatedlly to make remenber easily

3, should be done with distinctive gestures

4,smile, eye contact, posture, vocal tone, effective pose


No.4 is kind of manners.


I will decide which schools is most suitable for me sooner or later.


I am now watching Mr.Clinton's speech done in 2012.




My Finnish neighbour

How joyful I was with her, she always gave me a deep insight into the things like culture, the way of living. Her sharp perspective over everithing is just overwhelming. Her way of looking into things is just superior, excellent.

She always responds with the most prefarable words, and she explains easily with the foreign language ,so called, English.

Her ability of making sentenses is solid structive, truly constructive and coherent with logic, it’s not buyont like floating weed. Naturally there shoud be always a subject and a verb to make sentences, adding selective adjectives and adverb.To her it’so easy task. That always gives me a hint how to make nice sentenses.It helps me a lot to study for English conversation.

Besides her subjects are indeed interesting.My eyes are widely opened with curiosity.

Today I could step into her Kitchen.

I am so astonished to know about her telling about the kitchen use in European countries.

There, people are freely enter into the kitchen wothout any permission from the host or the hostess.Directly from the entrance,people easily go to the kitchen to chat or to even help the preparation for tea.They think it is taken for granted. They just don’t be bothered by their friends intrusion.

They rather like it.

On the contrary, our culture is so diffrent. Our kitchen space is just too small to invite someone else, it’s a rabbit house.

There’s no chatting space, no space for the shelf, or TV.It’s so miserable situation, while I strongly think the kitchen is just the core, it’s pivotal presence should be regarded more clearly.As she said, the ploblem comes from the fact that a great number of the architectures are indeed men!!! They don’t think a bit of this importance.


To master English

What is not sufficient for us japanese people to master English?

Naturally, I suppose it's numerous practices of output.

We Japanese are already knowlegeble about the grammer and the structure.

What we need most is the output practices.


After we've enough done that, we might attend the school for conversation where the natives teach.

We may communicate in more natural way.


Without the output practices done by ourselves, I think that the conversation practices with the native speakers might not be worth.

After all, we need solid basic conversational skills.

For doing that, we say basic sentenses repeatedlly, literally again and again.


From the point of grammertical view, we could change the attitude towards the grammer. It's just useful to know that, that's why we learn. We are not forced to learn.


Ex; [the relative pronoun]

I know that boy. + That boy is very tall.

= I know that boy who is very tall


Why do you do that ? Why do we make just one sentense from these two??

Beacause it's just convenient to do that, it's simple and useful, and make things flow more smoothly.


I just can't possibly imagine that the natives speakers are thinking about the grammertical term 'the relative pronoun' when speak the above sentense.
