１１月１９日に起きたグロリア・アロヨ前大統領の逮捕事件だ。
この事件は、２００７年の選挙で
南部ミンダナオ島マギンダナオ州の得票数を不正操作するように
アロヨ前大統領が指示したとして
選挙管理委員会と司法省の合同調査チームによる証拠に基づき
同委員会がアロヨ前大統領を選挙妨害の容疑で起訴したことから始まった。

３人の野党候補の得票数がゼロになるように指示したと言われる。

この判断を聞いたアロヨ前大統領は、すぐに航空機のチケットを予約し
出国を試みたが、行政府当局に出国を阻まれ
飛行機から降ろされてしまった。この４日後の１９日
アロヨ前大統領に逮捕状が出され、アロヨ前大統領は病院で逮捕された。

現場で捜索、救助活動に当たっている軍の幹部によると
「鉄砲水で沖へ流された住民らの遺体が
近隣の海岸などに打ち上げられている」という。
捜索活動には、家族や友人を失った地元の漁師らが自発的に協力している。
負傷者は先週末の１,９７９人から４,５９４人まで増加。
１,０００人余りが依然として行方不明になっているとみられる。
７０万人近くに上る被災者のうち、約３７万人が避難所に身を寄せている。
国連は先週、被災地には莫大な人道支援が必要だとして
避難者らの救済に向け総額２,８００万ドル（約２２億円）の寄付を呼び掛けた。
