hearing your own voice

英語カフェでの一節です。
S: 外国人スタッフさん、A: お客さん、K: 私
S: What are the things you want to do everyday?
K: I want to write a blog everyday. Actually, I'm trying to do that. But it is really difficult.
S: Oh, that's a good thing. What do you normally write in your a blog?
K: I usually write the content of a conversation which I had in English cafes. I introduce some English phrases which I picked up in the conversation.
S: Oh, really? It helps people when you share your knowledge.
K: I just began that last month. I'm not sure how long I can continue that.
S: Yeah, it's a very hard thing to do. So what got you to start this?
K: Sometimes I record the conversation to check my pronounciation. Along with that, I can go back to the content of the conversation. So I just write it down in the blog.
S: Oh, I see.
A: That's a great idea. But I don't want to hear my voice.
K: My voice is no good even in Japanese. So I always try to record and check my voice. You should have the courage to hear your own voice.
最近、英語の発音に力を入れてまして、自分の発音を確認するために英語カフェで会話を録音して後で聞き直しています。
自分の声を聞くのはなかなか勇気のいることですが、先日お話しした通り、声にコンプレックスがありますので、勇気をもって聞くようにしています。
発音を確認するついでに、会話内容も振り返って確認しています。その中で使えそうな言い回しがあれば、このブログで会話内容とともに紹介しています。
会話内容については、文法の修正や話の筋を通すためのセリフの追加など行って、極力読みやすく編集してますので、参考にしてみてください。

実家の庭に猫の家族が住んでます。

子: チビ白♂
子: チビ黒♀
名前は親が呼んでいる名称です。
子供の頃からたくさんの猫が庭に入ってくるのを見てきましたが、この家族は長くて、もう１年以上になります。
ウチの親が餌をやってるせいでもあるんですが、庭のことを大変気に入っているようです。
ぜひ幸せに暮らしてほしいものです。

A: How do you study English?
K: I study English by watching YouTube and sometimes visiting English cafes like this.
A: Really? This is the first time for me to visit an English cafe. Is it effective?
K: Yeah. It's a lot of fun to talk to many different people.
A: I see.
S: Where are you from?
A: I'm from xxx.
S: How long does it take to come here?
A: It takes about one and a half hours.
S: That's pretty far.
A: Yeah. But this time, I had something to do here. So I just dropped in.
Aさんは英語カフェが初めての方で、近くに用事があったんで、ついでに寄ってみたとのこと。
「用事がある」は、
I have something to do today.
I have a thing to do today.
I have some plans today.
など。
「ちょっと寄る」は
drop by/in
stop by
come by
など。
drop in の場合、前置詞が必要です。
人を訪れる場合は、
drop in on him
場所を訪れる場所は、
drop in at the cafe
のように言います。
「用事の前に暇つぶしで寄ってみた」は、
I have something to do near here today.
Before that, I dropped by here to kill some time.
のような感じでしょうか。
結構使いそうな表現ですよね。
