Mornin! Wake up and smell the coffee!!
Hey how are you doing? Today, ah, look at that weather! Cold and dreary/わびしい, yuck/やだ!!
Today is good, my students have exams around this time. Classes are canceled for me. So, I can chill/リラックス out a bit. I think I told you last time.
In the news, the National Bureau of Economic Research, announced Monday that America is in a recession/不景気. Haven't we known that for a long time? I was not impressed/感動 to hear that.
Also in the news, Kaori Asada says she isn't happy because she always has to work on Christmas. I wonder why? Does she really hang out/会う with other people celebrating Christmas? I have a family, and Christmas is a tradition in my house, but a really wonder about hers. Maybe....
Well, you all have a great day, now - ya hear!

英語を勉強しましょう!December Facts - English time.
December is the 12th month in a year. However, it was originally the 10th month. "Dec-" means ten, as in the word "decade" which means 10 years. December became the 12th month in the Gregorian calendar system when it was adopted from the Roman calendar system.
December's flower is the holly. (See http://ameblo.jp/eigononabe/entry-10171403092.html for more information.)

Don't you think it is strange we hang socks up for Christmas?
We usual hang them on a fireplace, but if we don't anywhere is fine!
Well the tradition (伝統) comes from the story of Santa Claus. (An article about him later this month!)
Santa heard that a man had three daughters. They were ready to marry, but the father did not have a dowry, a gift to the husbands family for marriage.
Well, Santa came to the rescue(救助しに来る) one night.
As he looked into their house from a window, he threw gold into their stockings that were drying by the fireplace.
And so, this is why we have them today!
Unfortunately (残念), I have been doing this for many many years, and no gold yet... maybe this year!
OK, now here are a few more sentences with the special words above.
1) Tradition - Having turkey on Thanksgiving is an American tradition.
2) Dowry - The dowry to the husbands family was a lot of money.
3) Come to the rescue - Superman came to the rescue of Lois Lane.
4) Unfortunately - Unfortunately, I have no more time to write this!
Thanks! See you again!

Fix it English - What a breakfast menu!
Can you see what is wrong here? There are several problems.
First we have the word "Morning." This is correct, but I think it would be more natural to use "Breakfast."
"Salada" is "salad" in English. I know that many Japanese English speakers will make the mistake of saying "Sa ra da" but there is no "a" at the end. It should be said without any sound at all. So "saa la d" is correct. It ALMOST sounds like the word "solid."
Always use spaces before and after parenthesis. This is an open parenthesis: "(" and a close is this ")."
Also "weekday" should be "weekdays."
And the last mistake is a spelling error. "Holiay" should be "holiday" and well more than one holiday so it should be "holidays."
So for the Enflish, it should look like this:
MENU
Breakfast
Salad Bar (weekdays) 1,080
Salad Bar (holidays) 1,280
ケロッグ スペシャルK シェイプ・コントロール 1セット [ケロッグ]

英話 -English - Why is the gas surcharge so high?
If you can tell me when the surcharge for flights will go down, that would be great.
I wanted to fly home for Christmas, but I decided to wait because I heard the prices for the gas surcharge would go down.
Now, I am in a pickle, because I might not be able to fly home after the New Year! WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Alas, I guess I will just wait. Would be nice to see America running under President Elect Obama in charge. Maybe the security will be easier at the airport and I won't have to take my shoes off after he has been inaugurated!
