20 straight hours!!

from the day before yesterday to yesterday was like really busy as i was doing some stuff. usually, it takes about 3 days for me to complete but they asked me to be done by the next day. so i started working on this at around 5:30 on tuesday the 3rd and it was 13:30 on wednesday the 4th when i finished!! 20 straight hours, man!!! it took me a whole day to recover as i got older..... i think i smoked about two packs. no to mention but the chocolate did not work in the situation like this. oh, boy.....

やることがあったため、一昨日から昨日にかけてはめまぐるしい忙しさでした。通常であれば3日程度を要するものを翌日までに仕上げてくれとのオファーが来たんですよね。というわけで、2日（火曜日）の夕方5時半から取り掛かり、終わったのは翌3日（水曜日）の昼過ぎ1時半でした!! 20時間ぶっ通しでした!!! いやぁ、年取ったせいか、リカバーするのに丸1日かかりました・・・。おかげでタバコは2箱ほども吸ってしまいました。いやぁ、まいった・・・。こんな時、チョコレート なんて何の効果もなかったというのは、言うまでもありませんね。いやぁ、参った・・・。

my wife got back from san fran, and here's part of souvenirs: ghirardelli twilight delight (72% cacao) and espresso escape (60% cacao). i like those names!! i like ghirardelli chocolates but they must be luscious!!!

うちの奥さんがサンフランから帰国しまして、これはお土産の一部：ギラデリのトワイライト・デライト（カカオ72％）とエスプレッソ・エスケープ（カカオ60％）。名前が良い感じですね～!! ギラデリのチョコレートは好きなんですが、これは美味いに違いない!!!

as i see a lot of white stuff around, i think i got subconsciously affected by "whites." usually, i grab whatever it is black but this time, i grabbed white one too. i guess the only matter is to maintain "whiteness".....

白いモノをよく目にするためか、無意識のうちに「白」に影響されたみたいです。通常であれば黒を選ぶんですが、今回は白にも手が伸びてしまいました。唯一、気になる点と言えば「白さ」を維持することでしょうか・・・。

here's the mix tape done by one third of the legendary wicked crew, jeno. this is also from mid-90's. hard and bit tribal house set with very smooth mixes. i love his mixing style!! you can experience san francisco sounds from this tape. well, i mean mid-90's sounds though. every city has its own style and atmosphere, and i love san francisco style amongst cities!!

これは伝説的なウィケッド・クルーのメンバーだったイェノウによるミックス・テープです。これも90年代半ばのものです。ハードで若干トライバルな感じ、それでミックスがとても滑らか。彼のミックス・スタイル大好きです!! サンフランシスコ・サウンドを堪能できます。といっても90年代半ばの音ですが。都市にはそれぞれのスタイルや雰囲気があるんですが、その中でもサンフランシスコ・スタイルは大好き!!

90's mix tapes continues..... here's john howard's mix recorded in live. no track list, sorry. too bad that i remember many songs but don't remember names. but tracks contained in the tape are more like the stuff mark farina would play; many of them now beocome classics. funky house with soul (with some funky breaks)!! i regret that i should buy more tapes at that time..... but you know what the internet made possible.

90年代のミックス・テープの続き・・・。これはジョン・ハワードのライブ・ミックスを収録したテープです。トラック・リストはなし、すいません。あれこれ知っている曲はあるのですが、如何せん名前を覚えていません。ですが、テープに収録されているトラックはマーク・ファリーナが回すような感じのトラックで、その多くが今ではクラシックになっているようなトラック。ソウルのあるファンキー・ハウス（それとファンキーなブレーク・ビーツ）!! 当時、もっとミックス・テープを買っていたらと、今更ながらに後悔しています・・・。でも、インターネットのおかげで何が可能になったのか、ご存知ですよね。

sushi w/ ex-colleague

i got a phone call from an ex-colleague and we met up at ebisu. we headed for small sushi place right in front of ebisu station where they serve this sushi plate for only 1,000yen (including small appetizer, not shown in the pic)!! sorry, i forgot the name but this is right in front of west exit of the station, so you cannot miss it. then we headed for a cafe and then we headed for a bar. it was quite refreshing for myself.

前の同僚から電話がありまして、恵比寿で落ち合うことに。で、駅の前にある小さなお寿司屋さんで遅めのランチ。そこでは写真のセット（小さな小鉢の前菜つき、写真には写っていません）がランチ・タイム1,000円!! すいません、名前は覚えていません。でも恵比寿駅西口の目の前ですから、すぐに分かります。その後、喫茶店（カフェではない）でコーヒーをすすり、更にバーへ移動。いやぁ、良いリフレッシュになりました。

i bought this in san francisco when i visited there with my friends. as this is a live set, you can feel the funky groove and vibe as if you were in the club with funky chicago oriented house music!! also, some hits from that period such as la funk mob, jamiroquai, etc. are included in the mix. anyway, if you like derrick carter, then you have to listen to this. very much lively mix tape.

これは友人達とサンフランシスコに行った際に購入したテープです。ライブ・セットと書かれているように、まるでクラブでファンキーなシカゴ系中心のハウスを聴いているような、ファンキーなグルーヴとヴァイブが感じられます。また、ミックスにはラ・ファンク・モブやジャミロクワイなどといった当時のヒットも。デリック・カーターが好きであれば、これは聴かなければなりませんよ。ライブ感バッチリのミックス・テープです。

speaking of san francisco, my wife is in san francisco now (oh, i envy you.....). she went there as one of representatives from japan to attend an exhibition. she now appears in several magazines in japan including major nation wide magazines.

サンフランシスコと言えば、うちの奥さんは今、サンフランシスコに（良いなぁ・・・）。エキシビションか何かに参加するため、日本の代表者の1人として行っています。それで、今では日本国内の複数の雑誌（メジャーな全国誌を含む）などに載ったりしています。

トラック・リストはありませんが、90年代半ばのものです。

this is a mix tape by miles maeda which i got from him when he stayed in my apartment years and years ago. as you know, he put out a lot of mix tapes in various genres such as house, downtempo, etc., and in the tape, he mixed jungle, i mean a good time jungle. i don't know how many of this tape he put out but as you see name and title are his own handwriting.

これは、随分前に僕のアパートにマイルス・マエダ君が滞在した時、本人からもらったミックス・テープです。彼はハウスやダウンテンポなど様々なジャンルのミックス・テープを出していますが、これはジャングル。しかも良い時代のジャングル。このテープは何本くらい出したのか分かりませんが、ご覧のようにタイトルと名前は彼の手書き。

he told me why he used the word "kiku" for the tape. as you know, he is a third-generation japanese american born in hawaii (if i remember correctly). anyway, he found out the meaning of "kiku" and also it has various different meanings. "kiku" could be a name of flower, could be the verbs "listen," "relieve," etc. he was really fascinated by the fact and decided to use the word for his mix tape's title.

テープのタイトルになぜ「きく」という言葉を使ったのか教えてくれました。ご存知のように、彼はハワイ生まれの日系3世のアメリカ人（記憶が正しければ）。それで、ある時に「きく」という言葉の意味、そしてこの言葉には花の名前や「聞く」、「利く」など沢山の意味があることを知ったそうです。で、この言葉に惹かれてタイトルに使用したのだとか。

cherry blossoms in full bloom!!

i went out yesterday to do some minor errands, and there's a lot of cherry trees with blossoms fully bloomed. instantly i was going to take some pic but since i was a bit nervous (no reason to be that though), i pushed that aside and headed for the destination. and all of you could imagine, i forgot to take pics on the way back home.....

昨日はちょっとした用事があって出かけたのですが、沢山の桜の木を見かけまして、それがもう桜満開な感じでした。それで、すぐさま写真を撮ろうと思ったのですが、ちょっと緊張（緊張する理由はなかったんですが）していたため、とりあえずは目的地に向かったわけです。それで、案の定と言いますか、帰り際に写真を撮るのを忘れてしまいました・・・。

sorry for the blurry pic. you see the yellow pointing finger pointing up the gray square. that is the static remover. you touch it before pressing any buttons, so that you don't get static shock. actually, that's good for me as i get a lot of static electricity shocks especially during fall-winter season.

ピンボケ画像でスイマセン。黄色の指が指しているグレイの四角い部分、上に書いてありますが静電気除去だそうです。ここにタッチすると静電気が除去されみたい。特に秋冬には静電気ショックに悩まされている自分にとっては、ありがたいものです。
