cinnamon & clove

i am listening to some lounge-ish songs in my tape i recorded long time ago. none of the records are with me now..... in the mid-90's, i saw lots of "lounge" compilations and heard the word "lounge" but now i barely do so. no more "lounge?"

かなり昔に作ったラウンジ系のテープを聴きながら。テープに録音されている曲のレコードの全ては手元になく・・・。90年代の半ば、いわゆる「ラウンジ」系のコンピ物をよく見かけ、「ラウンジ」という言葉をよく耳にしましたが、今では全く。

i always used 90-minute cassette tapes when i recorded songs, and i would like to copy songs to cd-r before tapes get worn out; however, cd-r is 80 minutes. that means i have to cut off the last 10 minutes. i don't wanna do that. i can copy that in mp3 file but my audio cd player won't read the mp3 data..... or i can copy one side of the tape to cd-r but that means each cassette needs two cd-rs, and that's too much. are there any good ways to solve this?

昔はあれこれ録音する際に90分のテープを使っていまして、テープが伸びてしまう前にcd-rに焼きたいと思っているんですが、如何せんcd-rは80分なんですよね。と言うことは残りの10分を削らなければならない。これはしたくない。mp3ファイルにすることはできるんですが、そうすると自分のオーディオcdプレイヤーはmp3のデータを読み込まないんですよ・・・。またはテープの片面を1枚のcd-rに焼くこともできるんですが、これだとカセット1本につき2枚のcd-rが必要になるわけで、なんか面倒。なんか良い方法ってないかな？

i finally changed all the bedding stuff for summer. however, i barely sleep on the bed as i usually crash on th sofa..... but i do like the bed.

やっとの思いでベッド回りを夏用に切り替え。しかしながら、普段はソファでつぶれてしまうため、あまりベッドで寝ることはないのが現状。でも、ベッドは好きなんですよ。

bread

this is the label put back side of the bread i ate this morning. like this, additives are everywhere. it says, flour, dairy product, egg, yeast, emulsifier, flavoring, antioxidant (vitamin c). therefore, it is endless to check the additves in the food..... having said that, i still check. we'll try to pick the stuff with less additives.

今朝食べた食パンの裏側のラベル。こんな感じでなんにでも（といったら語弊がありますが）入っています。食品の中の添加物なんてチェックしたらきりがないです・・・。とは言うものの、見てしまいますね。少しでも添加物が少ないものを手に取るようにしなければ、ですね。

life with food additives

so, i finished reading the book about food additives. they are everywhere! that is really scary. according to the book, since it's almost impossible to avoid additives, we have to consider how we live with them. anyway, the book was pretty interesting. thanks again, 244-kun!

と言うわけで、食品添加物についての本 を読み終えました。添加物は至るところに！ まさか、こんなとは。この本によると、添加物を避けるのはほぼ不可能なので、あとは添加物とどう付き合っていくかになるのだそうな。いずれにしても興味深い本でした。244君、ありがとね。

and i checked the soy sauce, which i thought it was the soy sauce. nah, it was "artifact" soy sauce with full of many different kinds of additives..... this is not soy sauce at all.

で、我が家の醤油、と思っていたものをチェックしてみました。これまた添加物てんこ盛りの醤油「加工品」でありました・・・。これは醤油ではありません。

we are eating 20+ additives everyday.....

毎日、20種以上の添加物を摂取している模様・・・。

look at above letters. top parts are cut off, and it's kind of blurry, and the color of the fonts are not correctly displayed..... i see the same situation in many places. it happened right after i renewed web browser. does anyone know how to correct this?

上の文字を見てください。上の部分が切り取られた感じになっており、しかもちょっとボケ気味。フォントの色も正しく表示されていません。同様の症状があちこちで。ウェブ・ブラウザを更新してから、こんな症状に・・・。どなたか修正法をご存じないでしょうか？

over the weekend

on saturday night, i was at deja vu in nishi-azabu, mainly played the stuff like these with a little bit of this and that. for the place like this with huge windows opened, it's definitely the best season (except for rainy night).

土曜の夜は西麻布デジャヴ。こういった感じ を中心にあれやこれやを織り交ぜながら。大きな窓を開放できるデジャヴのようなお店にとっては、（雨の夜は除いて）まさに最高のシーズン到来といった感じですね。

i played with takeshi-san and satomix, always amazed with takeshi-san's smooth mixes of excellent taste of music, and satomix played some uplifting stuff. she sure is progressing! me? according to my wife, she liked the mix cd she heard in lounge roots upstairs better, which... ummm... was my mix though..... i tried to be aware of summer season a bit.

武士さん、サトミックスと共にプレイ。武士さんのスムーズなミックス、そしてエクセレントな音楽テイストには毎度のことながら感嘆。サトミックスはアッパー系をクルクルと。確実に上達してますね！ で、自分はと言いますと、うちの奥さん曰く、2階のラウンジ・ルーツで聴いたミックスcdが良かった、と。それも、まぁ、自分のではあったんですが・・・。若干夏っぽさを意識したつもりだった。

i have tried to make mix cds many time but never made it to the end. i will try to make some in this season!

これまでに何度もミックスcd作成を試みたんですが、完成には至らず。できれば、今シーズン中に何枚か！

on sunday night, my wife and i went to "solid" at la fabrique as we were invited. the night's headliners were "diz" from chicago and todd omotani. i finally made it to see the couple ! diz was expressing the music and his play with his whole body, which remined me of dj traxx, who is one of my favorite dj's. kai, todd omotani and marshall all made the floor bumpin'!

日曜の夜はお誘いを受けてうちの奥さんと一緒にラ・ファブリックで開催された「ソリッド」へ。この晩のヘッドライナーはシカゴの”diz”と”todd omotani”でした。これでカップルの両方 を体験することができました！ dizは全身を使って音楽と自身のプレイを表現。お気に入りのdj traxxを思い出しました。カイさん、todd omotani、そしてマーシャル全員がフロアをこれでもかと言うくらいに盛り上げ！

i tried to take some pictures but since it was darker, i took some with night scene mode. the first time, i couldn't get him.

写真を撮ろうとしたんですが暗かったため夜景モードで。1回目、彼はどこに。

oh, it's getting better because i could catch him although his blurry.

お？ ボケながらも捉えることができた。よしよし。

a bottle of water for 600yen is quite high though. anyway, all the solid crews, thank you so much! we really enjoyed the night.

水がボトル1本で600円はちと高いか。ともあれ、ソリッド・クルーの皆さん、有難うございました！ 楽しい一晩でした。

i think i have written before but i really like the sound there; it's not just so loud, not distorted yet so warm. speaking of speakers at home, it's more like jbl than bose.

前にも書いたと思いますが、ラ・ファブリックの音って単にデカいだけでなく、凄く温かみを感じるんで好きだなぁ。家庭のスピーカーで言うと、ボーズよりもjblといった感じか。

the bbb w/ bobby harden

the other day, scott emailed and told me that one of the singers featured in his first solo album (scheduled to be released on august 4!) would be performing live with one and only the original group of "the blues brothers band" in tokyo. his name is bobby harden . so, i called him to arrange the meeting time as he said he wanted to see the town a little bit. i met him at the hotel in shinjuku and took him around. as scott told me, he was super nice guy with smile on his face all the time! when we parted, he confirmed me that we would be on the guest list.

先日スコットからメールがあり、彼のファースト・ソロ・アルバム（8月4日リリース予定！）でフィーチャーしたシンガーの1人が唯一無二のオリジナル・グループである『ザ・ブルース・ブラザーズ・バンド』と共に東京でライブを行うとの連絡が。ボビー・ハーデン というシンガーです。と言うわけで彼に連絡を取り、街をちょっとだけ見てみたいというので待ち合わせの時間などをアレンジ。滞在先の新宿にあるホテルで待ち合わせた後、観光に。スコットも言ってたんですが、いつもニコニコしててまさにスーパー・ナイス・ガイでした！ 別れ際、ゲスト・リストに載せておくとの確約を頂く。

later at night, my wife and i headed to billboard live tokyo where the live will be performed at. bobby was kind enough to give us the backstage passes too!

その晩、うちの奥さんと共にライブが行われるビルボード・ライブ・トウキョウへ。ボビーは親切にもバックステージ・パスまで用意してくれていました！

original band members came up to the stage and the live started. i've never expected to hear "peter gunn theme" in live! later the singers came up to the stage and sang rhythm & blues, soul, etc. the live was filled with great amosphere; the audiences were standing up and dancing. it was just great!

で、オリジナル・バンド・メンバーがステージに登場しライブがスタート。まさか、「ピーター・ガンのテーマ」を生で聴けるなんて思ってもみませんでした。その後にシンガーが登場してリズム＆ブルースやソウル、etc.を歌いまくり。もう観客の皆さんは立ち上がって踊り、ライブは最高の状態に。素晴らしいの一言！

you know that taking pictures was prohibited but since bobby asked me to take some while singing, i got the permission. so, i put the armband on my arm and took some. after the show, we went up to the backstage and talked to bobby for a little while.

当たり前ですが写真撮影は禁止。なんですけど、ボビーに歌っている時の写真を撮影してくれないかと頼まれたので許可を得て、腕章をつけての撮影。ライブの後、バックステージ行ってボビーと歓談。

bobby, thank you so much for the fun time! we're so touched by the performance. and scott, thank you so much for hooking us up with bobby! we look forward to see you two (and your families) sometime in the near future in tokyo (or in nyc?)!!!!!

ボビー、楽しいひと時を有難う！ 最高のパフォーマンスでした。そしてスコット、うちらにボビーを紹介してくれて本当に有難う！ 近い将来、二人（と家族の皆さん）に東京（ないしはnyc？）で会えるのを楽しみにしています!!!!!
