母校にて　At my school

今回のブータン滞在では、母校のゾーリッグ・チュスム（工芸学校）にゆっくりおじゃましました。

ティンプーについた翌日の18日(月)、登校前にまずはチャンガンカラカン(お寺）におまいり。またブータンに来られたことに感謝。

On 18th Mon.; the second day of my stay in Bhutan, first, I visited Changankha Lhakhang. I prayed to thank to be given the chance.

朝礼（先生たち） Morning assmbly (teachers)

学校では、まず先生たちにあいさつ。何人か退職された先生がいらっしゃるのですが、新しい先生たちはみんな卒業生。わたしも知っている人ばかりです。

Then I went to my school; National Institute for Zorig Chusum. I exchanged greetings with teachers. Even new teachers, I know all of them because they are graduates from our school.

朝は毎日朝礼で始まります。学生たちの「あの人だれ？」っていう視線を感じつつ、はじっこの方でこっそり参加。
学校をひとまわり見て回って、今どんな課題をやっているのかのぞいてきました。いいなぁ。また学生になりたいなぁ。

I watched morning assembly. I felt students’ eyes who are wondering “Who’s that?”
Then I looked around the class rooms to see what are they learning now. It’s so interesting and I envy them. I would like to be student here again.

あとは、先生をつかまえて、質問攻め。刺繍していると、いろんな疑問がわいてくるのですが、なかなかひとりで解決できません。この機会に！と、ノートには質問がいっぱい。丁寧に答えてくださった先生たちに感謝です。

After that, I caught some teachers to ask a lot of questions. When I embroider in Japan, I often feel like to ask to teachers. However, it’s not easy to ask. So I didn’t miss this chance. I appreciate all the teachers to answer one by one, even I asked a lot

母校の先生たちと話していて感激したことが、ふたつあります。

When I was in NIZC, I strongly felt moved twice.

先生たちのもちよりランチにお邪魔しました。おかずだけ持ってきて、ご飯は炊いて食べているそうです。同じ釜の飯。楽しい！

ひとつは、「新しいアートにチャレンジしなさい」ということ。
基本はとても大事。だけど、自分のアイディアを表現するのも大事。大切なのは、美しいものにするということ。だそうです。守らなくてはいけない幹の部分と、自由に表現してよい枝葉の部分との見極めが、不安だったりするのです。でも、すこし大胆になってもいいのかな、と思いました。

First, a teacher told me “try new arts!”.
Basic is very important. But, express my idea also very important, he said. Most important point is making it beautiful. I’m still not very sure about what I can arrange and what I shouldn’t arrange. With his words, I feel a little free.

もうひとつは、「これはパタみたいなものなんだよ」という言葉。
パタとは、唐草模様のようなもので、仏像の光背や、建物の装飾や、さまざまなところに使われる図案です。その無限に広げられるパタにたとえて、先生は「私があなたに説明するでしょ。そして、それを日本であなたがほかの人たちに伝えるでしょ。知識は限りなく広がっていくんだよ。ね、パタみたいでしょ。だから、そんなこと言わなくていいんだよ」と言ってくださったのでした。
私には、知りたいこと、聞きたいことがたくさんあって、勝手におしかけて先生たちを質問攻めにして、申し訳ない気持ちがあったのでした。今の学生たちを指導する時間やエネルギーを奪ってしまったのではないかというわたしに対して、このお言葉です。あったかくて、ありがたくて、涙が出そうでした。

わたしはなんて幸せ者なんでしょう！

And other words are “This is just like Pata.”
Pata is a design of something like vine. You can find everywhere. He used of a metaphor. “You ask me questions and I answer. Then you explain that to your students in Japan. The knowledge will be shared and spread like Pata. Don’t worry.” I felt sorry to keep teachers with me so long and let them spend time and energy which they should spend for their students. However, he said I don’t need to think that way.
I was so glad and touched.

What a beautiful people I have!

ブータンの入り口　the entrance of Bhutan

パロ空港は、ブータンの玄関。パロへは、多くの人がバンコクから飛びます。
ブータンのゾンカ文字をドゥルックエアのシートにみつけたとき、もうブータンに触れてるなって思います。

Paro airport is the entrance of Bhutan.
Most of people fly from Bangkok. When I found Dzongkha letters on the sign of aircraft, I felt the tour to Bhutan had already started.

パロにつくと、みんな写真を撮ります。こんなに写真を撮りたい気持ちにさせる空港を、他に思いつきません。機体デザインも、空港ビルも、まわりの景色も、ぜんぶきれい。この乾季の青空を見てください！

At Paro airport, everybody takes photo. I don’t know any other airport makes people feeling like to take photo like Paro. The aircraft, airport building, scenery, and everything are attractive. See this beautiful blue sky!

でも、今回の旅では、バンコクですでにブータンに触れていたのでした。
バンコクでは、翌日の早朝フライトにそなえて、空港送迎サービスのあるホテルに泊まりました。空港についてホテルのバスに乗り込んだら･･･ドマのにおい！！ドマとは、ビンロウジュの実に石灰をつけて、キンマの葉でくるんで食べる嗜好品です。４人しかお客さんは乗っていないのに、うち２人がブータン人でした。
すでにブータンは始まっていたのでした。

However, the first contact with Bhutan on this trip was at Bangkok.
I took morning flight from Bangkok to Paro, so I stayed at Bangkok the night before. I booked a hotel with shuttle bus. Once I enter the bus, I felt the scent of betel nuts! There are only 4 persons in the bus and out of 4, two are Bhutanese. I was already with Bhutan in Bangkok.
