Sivan : Janet. Yeah, Janet Jackson. I just think, she, to me, is like, she's sort of the ultimate. I think, you know, she's so inspiring to me, like endlessly inspiring to me. I went and saw her concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Uh, this was a couple years ago now. And I really think that um... like set me on my path for the album in general. I was just like, to me, pop stars of that sort of era, so like there's so much nostalgia, like really the idea of um... you know, for me, it's almost like a character at this point. But um... but this like kind of, I don't know, like untouchable, like sex, pop star, that's like global you know, like they travel and they play for these massive crowds, and there's the choreography and everything, and like the videos were just so mega, like everything about that to me, is like, so nostalgic for when I was growing up.

Sivan : And kind of was like, that's the era where I fell in love with pop music. And so, and Janet to me, I think the reason why she's so inspiring, is because, the music is just like, untouchable. She is so good, and was, you know, is constantly pushing boundaries, and trying things and it's like, you know, there's some really experimental moments in a catalog. And um... she's just the coolest to me.

Travis : Now you've described, this new album being about sex, partying, dancing, and real connections. Is 'Rush' an indicator of the rest of the tracks, that we're going to be getting in October?

Sivan : I think 'Rush' is maybe the most like turbo. You know what I mean? Like it's pretty, like it's going 100%, um... and the rest of the album has moments of that, for sure. But I think, you know, for me, like, the thing that was really important to me across this album is, yeah, I mean, like a phase of, you know, having a lot of fun. But at the same time, I am just like a really, I think, a lot about everything. And so, I wanted to make sure that there was like layers and vulnerability in it still, you know, and so, but yeah, you can 100% like party to the album, for sure. And it feels very warm to me.
シヴァン：「Rush」は一番ターボっぽい曲（勢いや疾走感、高揚感があるアップテンポな楽曲を指す俗語的な表現。車のターボエンジンが急加速する様子から転じて、聴く人の気分を一気に盛り上げるような曲のイメージを表している）だと思う。分かるだろ？すごく美しくて、100%全開みたいな感じで…アルバムの他の曲にもそういう瞬間は確かにある。でも、このアルバムを通して、ぼくにとって本当に重要だったのは、すごく楽しんでいるっていう段階だと思う。ぼくは本当に、何に対してもすごくこだわりがあるタイプなんだ。だから、アルバムの中にも、いろんな層とか脆さみたいなものを残したかった。でも、もちろん、このアルバムを100%、パーティー気分で楽しめるようにしたかった。すごく暖かい気持ちになるようにね。
Travis : I know you spoke to Vogue and I'm gonna coach you for a second. you said 'I was ready to make this depressing breakup album'. Did any of that original idea make it on ’Something to give each other’?
トラヴィス：ヴォーグ誌にきみが話したと聞いているんだけど、「この悲しい別れのアルバムを作る準備はできていたんだ」と言っていたね。そのもともとのアイデアは、反映されたのかい？
Sivan : Two songs.

Sivan : Yeah. And they suck to listen to it. But not just for me, not for everyone else, I think everyone else is gonna like ’him’, but...

Travis : I think it goes back to the original point. We were talking about 'Rush', how you knew you had something special, right? Because as artists, you cut yourself open. You put yourself out on the stage for everyone to see. It's incredibly vulnerable, it's scary. And 'Rush' feels like a song, that you can have fun to. And I'm sure, those two songs, that we're going to be hearing in October, they're painful, and it's hard to kind of relive when you listen to them.

Sivan : For sure. I think there's also an element of like, relief, kind of listening back to them now. Because it almost feels like, reading an old diary entry or something. So thankfully, I'm scared to play them live. That I'm really scared for. Because I think, that will feel tough. But um...but as far as just like kind of, you know, relating to them now. They feel like, I'm like, 'Damn, I can't believe', that was where I was at, when I listened to them.

Travis : I know, you mentioned that you really set out to work with friends on this project, who are some of the other creatives and collaborators that we can find on this album?

Sivan : Oscar Görres, is on almost the whole thing. He produced "My My My!" and on my last album, and I love working with him. This is like, his album, as much as it is mine. Troye Sivan has announced details of a huge UK and European tour for 2024.
The tour is in support of Sivan’s acclaimed album ‘Something To Give Each Other’, which was released back in October. The record ? Sivan’s first in five years ? scored the Australian a glowing five-star review from Nick Levine for NME. Levine wrote: “It’s a strikingly vital pop album charged with love, lust, sweat and regret. You won’t need a bosh of poppers to feel thoroughly intoxicated.”
Hailed by The Guardian as "one of this year's best and most distinctive pop albums" and celebrated by Rolling Stone as "a pristine slice of pop heaven," the Something to Give Each Other Tour is destined to be Sivan 's biggest, boldest and brightest tour.
Sivan’s 17-date run will begin in Portugal on May 29, 2024, before continuing throughout Europe. Sivan arrives in the UK on June 22 at the Manchester AO Arena; the tour will conclude in Birmingham.Tickets for the shows go on sale on December 8 at 9am.

Sivan’s eight-minute, 17-second coming-out video is a rare thing, equal parts star power and vulnerable humanity. He had promised himself he would come out before signing a record deal, knowing it was the only way he could write music that would be completely honest. When pressed, he now says he briefly wondered if it might have lost him some young, infatuated female fans, but he “had no other choice.
