He played a pivotal role in the Greek siege of Troy, which lasted for ten years.
Cassandra, on the other hand, was a Trojan princess and a priestess of Apollo, gifted with the power of prophecy but cursed never to be believed.
The most tragic encounter between Ajax and Cassandra occurred during the fall of Troy. -- As the city was being sacked by the Greeks, Cassandra sought refuge in the temple of Athena. ---Ajax, in a sacrilegious act, violated her sanctuary and dragged her away as a spoil of war.
