「ジャズソングズ セット」シリーズを始めました。（８）です。
When You’re smiling（1928）、South of the border（1939）、Just a closer walk with Thee（traditional）、です。３曲目のは、ゴスペルですが、日本の讃美歌としては、その訳詩は、意外にも、インターネット上にも見つけられませんでした。という事は、本邦讃美歌としての初出になるんでしょうか。それはともかくとして、これらの３曲は、その歌は、よく分かるものです。これを歌わないでいるのは、もったいない、です。
「When You’re smiling」は、歌い易そうな曲で、日本人のYouTubeを拾ってみました。歌の気持ちは、よく分かっているんです。「South of the border」は、この頃は、あまり耳にすることがありませんが、スペイン風の風景のある歌も、ちょっと、変わり味で面白いものです。そして、「Just a closer walk with Thee」は、遠慮なく歌ってみると面白いです。この歌の中に、「Let it be」があるのが面白いです。
２０２１．１０．１４追記：
When You’re smiling（1928）、の曲名を「君微笑むとき」から「ほほえむとき」に変更します。もとの漢字曲名の「君」をひらがな曲名で、そのままに、「きみほほえむとき」にすると、「きみ」の意味が分からなくなってしまうからです。今、「きみ」という音で、最初に思うのは、「たまごのきみ」です。それと、「き」の音で始まり、「き」の音で終わるということが、少し、引っ掛かります。漢字の「君」で始まり、「き」で終わる曲名なら気にならないのですが。そういうわけで、ひらがな曲名では、「ほほえむとき」にしました。「ほほえめば」だと、少し、ほほえみへの肯定感が足りなくて、「ほほえみ」だけだと、ほほえみのその先が不分明な感じです。これは、日本語ネイティブでないと分からないし、日本語ネイティブでも、「え～っ、何のこと」となるかも知れませんが。
