ゼロ除算理解の遅れ　の　理由について：

 

ずーっと考えて来たが　先ほど、　その理由について　ある発想が湧いてきた。

まず、事実だが、ある大きな国際会議で、　最後に　それは現代数学を破滅させるので、　すべて認められないと発言された方がいた。他方、国際会議の中心人物のひとりは、今回の国際会議で最もセンセ-ショナルの話題だったと話され　本を書こうと提案された。　表紙は　ギリシャ語で書き、裏に英語で書くと構想を述べた。

RIMS　（数理解析研究所）で講演したとき、　お亡くなりになった公田　蔵　立教大名誉教授は　良く理解されて、相当進んでいる、理解を得るのには時間が掛かりそうなので、繰り返し　折りをみて話して行くのが良いと話されたが、はじめに　ゼロ除算は、数学界の盲点だった　と言明されたのが　心強い言葉として残っている。　ところが相当有名な方が　聞かれていて、まるでおかしな宗教的な講演だったと批判的に　ツイッターに書かれていた（文書を保管している）。そのとき、面識がなかったので、　著名人に気づかなかったのは　痛切残念なことであった。理解した方の　相当な方のご意見は　内容は簡単なのだが、発想が違うので　理解が難しいところがある　という。そこで、共同研究をして来た人の　言葉が強く印象に浮かび上がってきた定義、公理が違う。　すると宗教的になってしまい、　是非が　個性、の問題のようになってしまう　と言うことです。　更に信じるか、信じないかの問題になってしまう。　この表現は正確でないとして、そのようなことを述べられた。ゼロ除算が、　感性や信仰のような問題を含んでいる、そのような要素があるという事です。もちろん、数学として、厳格に、間違いない表現を　初めから　注意してきているのは当然です。そこで　初めにとんでもないと発想された方は　真面目に考えず、　最初の1歩も進めなく、ただ盲目的に嫌い、最初に入れない。新しい定義、概念を得たのであるから、その重要性、証拠を沢山得て、その重要性を示すのは当然の義務です。　そこで　１０００を越える証拠、沢山の有効性を示す解説記事、論文など書き、著書や　雑誌の創刊なども行ない世界的な認知を広く求めている。これは朝食前に書き、後も書き、　山を巡って確認した。

On the anniversary of the discovery of division by zero, we would like to express our general thoughts. First, division by zero means that we divide by zero, but this proves simply to be impossible if we think of division by zero as the reverse of ordinary multiplication. It had been determined to be impossible.
