今回は前半はメール、後半はチャットでのやり取りを見ていきましょう。今日のテーマは資料を作成するです。
前半はスライドを修正するメールです。リエは、シンガポール支社のマイケルから、顧客向け資料のフィードバックをもらいます。

論点がわかりやすいメールですね。ではこのメールを詳しく見ていきましょう。

まず冒頭でプレゼンテーション資料の初稿を送ってもらった感謝の一言を食べています。
initialは「最初の」ですから、initial draftで「初稿」となります。
そして今回のポイントはこちらです。
The slides look great. Regarding the trends in sales and income over the past five years on the fourth page, I've created the graph from the table. I believe the graph conveys a sense of sales and income growth more effectively than the table.
まずはスライドは素晴らしいとコメントしています。改善を指摘するときに、こんな配慮をするといいですね。遠慮は不要でも配慮が必要です。
Regarding～で話の対象を絞っています。
the trends in sales and incomeは「売上と利益の傾向」です。
incomeは実際のビジネスでは「利益」という意味で使われることが多いです。
ほかの言い方としては、「売上」はrevenue、「利益」はprofit、earningがあります。一緒に覚えてしまいましょう。
I've created the graph from the table.
表からグラフを作成しましたといっています。通常graphというと棒グラフのことを指します。
続いてI believe the graph conveys a sense of sales and income growth more effectively than the table.
グラフの方が売り上げ、利益の伸びを効果的に伝えると言ってグラフを入れた方がいい根拠をつけています。
そして最後の文です。
Looking forward to welcoming you in Singapore.
シンガポールでお会いできることを楽しみにしている、という一言で終わっています。
全体として、相手に配慮を見せながら、改善点を的確に述べ、最後はリエの来訪を心待ちにする言葉で締めています。

今度はリエがマイケルに返信します。リエはマイケルの助言に対してお礼を述べた後、作成したグラフを送ろうとしています。メールの中に次の日本語に相当する英文があります。みなさんならどのように表現しますか？考えてみましょう。

細かいことですが、belowは副詞ですから、linkの後に来てthe link belowとなります。
もしfollowingを使う場合は、followingは形容詞なのでthe following linkとなります。

単にthank you for inputでもいいですが、valuable inputと言ってvaluable(貴重な)という形容詞を上手に使っています。
pie chartは円グラフのことです。確かに丸いパイに切り込みを入れたような形ですね。

Southeast Asia is a bit of a mystery for me.は直訳すると「東南アジアは私にとって少し謎めいている」。ここでは「あまり詳しくない」という意味ですね。
Shibata: Can the word "mystery" be used in an email?
Jenny: The word "mystery" is more fitting for chats. It adds a touch of humor. In a polite email, you might express it like, "I'm not so familiar with Southeast Asia".
Shibata: It's evident that the Rie and George are friendly terms.

今度はリエがジョージにメッセージを返します。ジョージからのお礼に対して、次のように応えようとしています。

attachmentはメールの添付資料のように心にくっついてる感じです。
この他にどんな表現があるでしょうか？

I'm somewhat emotionally attached to Southeast Asia.

emotionally attached to～は「感情的に思い入れがある」という言い方ですね。
