The view reminds me of good old days

This morning, I took an airport limousine bus from Uehonmachi to Kansai airport to pick up my daughter. It is her first time coming back to Japan since last September.
On the way to the airport, the bus took Bay route to Hanshin express way. The view from the bus reminded me of those good old days when I used to drive with my family there.

今朝、上本町からリムジンバスで娘を迎に関西空港に行きました。娘は7ヶ月ぶりに帰国します。途中、阪神高速で南港や空港連絡橋を通りました。私がよく家族を乗せてドライブを楽しんだ場所です。楽しかったあの頃を思い出しました。

I like coastal area 海辺が好き

I like going to the seaside.There is no beautiful natural beach in Osaka. But I can visit those ports such as Osaka Nanko (South port), Hoko (North port), Sakai port, Kobe port and Osaka Tempozan quay. In those places, I can see many ships. My grandfather would take me to Tempozan quay to see ships in my childhood. Seeing ships made me imagine what the overseas country was like. Since then, my dream was to be a seaman in the future.

Unfortunately, no fortunately my dream never came true because I get seasickness easily.

私は海辺に行くのが好きです。海辺でといっても大阪には自然の美しいビーチはありませんが港があります。子どもの頃、祖父がよく船を見に大阪天保山埠頭に連れてくれた影響か船を見るとまだ見ぬ国がどんなところか空想します。ということで私の夢は外国航路の船員さんになることだった。しまのジャケットにマドロス帽にギターを抱える姿は小林旭さんの映画のシーンでした。残念というか幸運というかその夢は実現しませんでした。私は船酔いがきついんです。

Overseas gifts in those days

It was early 1970s when I traveled abroad for the first time. In those days, the things we bought for our friends and colleagues as overseas gifts were Jonnie Walker whisky, Dunhill cigarettes, Chanel perfume and those big name designer’s brand bags. In those days, they were  very expensive in Japan. We could buy them only in those tax free shops in airports. We couldn’t afford to buy them in Japan.

70年代から90年代ぐらの海外旅行のお土産の定番はジョニ黒、ナポレオン、ダンヒルのタバコ、シャネルの香水やブランド物のバッグでしたね。国内では手に入らない高級品ばかりでした。私は日本では高価なブランデーを自分用に買って飲まずに居間の棚に20年以上も飾っていました。何十年も栓を開けずにおいている洋酒は飲めると思いますか？

結論は栓のコルクが劣化してなくて完全に密閉されているならOKですがコルクがボロボロと劣化しているのは飲めません。でそのブランデーは教室の皆さんの前で栓を開けましたが最高の味でした。
