Some of my classmates of poor families wore no socks.
現在は野外は寒くても、室内はどこも暖かく快適ですね。私たちの子供の頃は室内でもかなり寒かった。火鉢だけだったから。小学校は5年まではストーブはなかった。ほとんどの子どもは霜焼けになっていました。
貧しい家の子たちは靴下も履いていなかった。今は霜焼けと言う言葉さえ聞くことはないですね。
When we get old, we feel difficult to catch up with high technology.
For example, as I bought a new computer, I tried making this year’s greeting cards with a new computer.
歳をとると、新しい科学技術に追いつくのは難しいと感じるようになります。例えば私は新しいパソコンを買ったので今年の年賀状は新しいパソコンで作ってみました。
But it was so difficult that I couldn’t make them smoothly. As many people of my generation stopped sending new year cards, I nearly gave up sending them too.
でもかなり難しくそう簡単には出来なかった。
私の世代の多くは年賀状を送るのを止める人が多いので私もやめてもいいかと思いました。
But it would have been regrettable if I had given up because of the luck of my knowledge about the computer.
でも私は止める理由が自分がパソコンを使いこなせないからということにしたくはなかった。
I worked hard and at last I could make all new year cards for this year.
私は頑張って最終的には今年の年賀状はすべて作ることができました。
As long as I live in this world, I should struggle to cope with new technologies and keep up with the trends of the world.
まあ、この世に生きている間は新しい科学技術に取り残されないよう、また社会の趨勢についていけるよう悪戦苦闘を続けるつもりです。
古いイヤホンからBluetooth 用のワイヤレスに変えようかな。補聴器が目立たなくなりそうやから。

Yesterday it was Saturday so I took a train to go to Matsubara but the loop line train stopped at Momodani station and didn’t move due to some trouble with the operation system.
昨日は土曜日だったので私は松原に向かうため電車に乗ったのですが環状線の電車が桃谷駅で止まって動かない、信号機の点検とかで復旧のめどが分からないとのこと。
I needed to go to Matsubara before 10 o’clock so I had to return to Tsuruhashi station to go to Tanimachi 9. From there I went to Tennoji by Subway Tanimachi line.
私は松原に10時に着く必要があるので鶴橋駅に戻って地下鉄で天王寺に行きました。
I was late for the class one hour. Very sorry for the class members.
It took me 3 hours to get to Matsubara. It usually takes 1 hour. Although I left home at 8 am, it couldn’t be helped.
私は授業に1時間遅れました。クラスのみなさんに迷惑をかけてしまった。松原まで3時間かかりました。普段は1時間です。私は午前8時に家を出たのですが、どうしょうもなかった。
Japanese train system is very punctual so it was a rare case.
