「～がち」であるという時に昔々ワンセットで覚えたフレーズがある。
be apt to …, be prone to …, be liable to …, tend to …
と言ってもこれらを英訳で使うことはあまり無く、どちらかと言えば「～しやすい」の意味でbe likely to …やit is probable that …を使うことの方が多い。

ところが先日「●●多発地域」の訳語を探していてある表現に出くわした。
An earthquake-prone area 「地震多発地域」
形容詞proneが名詞の後に置かれる場合について調べてみた。
-prone:
-prone combines with nouns to make adjectives that describe people who are frequently affected by something bad.
「-proneは名詞の後ろに置かれて、何か悪いこと（その名詞）に頻繁に影響される人を表す形容詞を作る」
また英英辞典に“accident-prone”を参照のこと、との記載があった。
Accident-prone:
If you describe someone or something as accident prone, you mean that a lot of accidents or other unpleasant things happen to them.
「多くの事故やその他の不快な出来事に見舞われる人または物を意味する場合に“accident prone”を用いる。
