季節柄「雨」（“rain”）に因んだ表現をいくつか紹介する。
Rain check
1) If you say you will take a rain check on an offer or suggestion, you mean that you do not want to accept it now, but you might accept it at another time.
「ある申し出や提案を今は受理したくないが、別の機会に受理するかも知れない時に“I’ll take a ran check.”と使う。」
2) A rain check is a free ticket that is given to people when an outdoor game is stopped because of rain or bad weather, so that they can go it when it is held again.
「屋外のゲーム（競技）が雨や悪天候で中止されたときに観客に配布される無料のチケットで、そのゲームが再度催されたときには、そのチケット入場できる。」

Rain out (off)
If a sports game is rained out, it has to stop, or it is not able to start, because of rain.
「スポーツのゲームが雨で中止される、または開始できなくなること。」

A rain of things
A rain of things is a large number of things that fall from the sky at the same time.
「たくさんの物が空から同時に降ってくる様子。」

As right as rain
If you say that someone is as right as rain, you mean that they are completely well or healthy again, for example when they have recovered from an illness or a shock.
「人が、例えば病気やショックから回復した時のように、完全に元気で健康な状態に戻ること。」

“I’ll take a rain check.”は関西弁の「考えとくわ」のような感じで、やんわりと断る場合に使われる。また“rain out”は米語で、英では“rain off”となる。
