前回紹介した「最後の軍歌」とも呼ばれる「壮行譜」の経緯（いきさつ）について少し調べてみた。

「壮行譜」 作詞：内場健人・作曲：須摩洋朔
1946年（昭和21年）、戦犯としてシンガポールに行かねばならなくなった元帥寺内寿一（てらうち ひさいち）陸軍大将を見送る際に作られた曲。軍楽隊による最後の軍歌であり、これ以降、狭義の意味での軍歌軍楽は作られていない。（”Wikipedia”より）

すなわちこの曲は、敗戦後に戦犯となった陸軍大将を送別（訣別）する曲だったのである。メロディ流れる哀しさが何となく理解できた。

碧空（あおぞら）たかく旭光（きょくこう）の 雲を貫く海の果て
燃ゆる聖火を胸に秘め 使命あらたな今日の日に
我等捧ぐる壮行譜
二．
旅路はるけく幾山河 声なき声の訣別（けつべつ）に
生命わきたつ虹の朝 つわものどもの赤心（まごころ）を
いまぞ捧げん壮行譜
三．
南十字の影淡く 夢なお多き旅の夜は
月の宴に大丈夫（ますらお）が 歌う祖国の花の香を
そえて捧げん壮行譜
四．
死生命（しせいめい）ある人の世の 歴史綴らぬひとときを
尽きぬ名残の言の葉に ああ神州（しんしゅう）は不滅とぞ
さらば捧げん壮行譜

“Farewell Song”
1.
Toward the end of the sea under the rising sun high in the deep blue sky breaking through the clouds,
Keeping a holy fire burning in the hearts, on this very day with a new mission, it’s time for us to say farewell to divine warriors.
2.
Through a long journey of the war overcoming mountains and rivers, while seeing voiceless farewells and bereavements,
Under the rainbow across the morning sky springing our lives up, together with our red hearts, it’s time for us to say farewell to divine warriors.
3.
Under the faint light of the Southern Cross, at the night on the journey still bearing many dreams in the mind,
At the feast under the moonlight amongst warriors’ song for the motherland,
With the scent of cherry blossoms, it’s time for us to say farewell to divine warriors.
4.
During human’s world with births, lives and deaths, for a while which couldn’t be written in the history,
As the last phrase out of never-ending words to say that ah! our Japan, the divine land, would never be ruined, it’s time for us to say farewell to divine warriors.
