「欲求不満」という意味の“frustration”という単語は、ほぼ日本語化していて「フラストレーション」でも通用するようであるが、この“frustration”は法務ではやや異なる意味を持つ。

動詞”frustrate”の定義から確認しておく。
Frustrate:
1) If something frustrates you, it upsets or angers you because you are unable to do anything about the problems it creates.
「ある物が、それによって生じた問題について（人が）何もすることができないため、人を困らせる、怒らせること」
2) If something frustrates a plan or attempt to do something, they prevent it from succeeding.
「ある物が、何かを行う計画または試みの成功を妨げること」

法務における”frustration”の意味は上記2)に近く「（契約の）履行不能」という意味である。
