"I am me, and idiots are idiots."
この本は私の好きな本の一つだ。
This book is one of my favorites.
著者はひろゆきさんで、簡単に言うと「バカは放っておけ」と書いてある。
The author is Hiroyuki, and to put it simply, it says "Leave idiots alone."
早速、この本に書いてある大事な考え方を3つ紹介する。
Let me introduce three important ways of thinking written in this book.
①断るときは理由を言わないでいい
Don't give a reason when you turn something down
多くの人が断るときに理由を言う。
Many people give a reason when they turn something down.
でも、相手が知りたいのはその誘いを受け入れるかどうかだ。
But what the other person wants to know is whether they will accept the invitation or not.
飲み会であれば行くか行かないかを言えばいい。
If it's a drinking party, just say whether you will go or not.
その理由は言う必要がない。
You don't need to give the reason.
嫌われたくない人ほど多くの理由をつける。
The more you don't want to be disliked, the more reasons you should give.
嫌われることに慣れておく方が今後自分の意見を言いやすくなる。
If you get used to being disliked, it will be easier to express your opinion in the future.
いい人のふりをやめよう。
Stop pretending to be a good person.
②イライラしたくなければ自分にも相手にも期待しない
If you don't want to be irritated, don't have expectations of yourself or others.
映画が面白くなかったらイライラする。
You get irritated if a movie isn't interesting.
部下がプレゼンの準備をしてなかったらイライラする。
You get irritated if your subordinate hasn't prepared a presentation.
イライラするのはあなたが期待してるからだ。
You get irritated because you have expectations.
期待しなかったらイライラしない。簡単なことだ。
If you don't have expectations, you won't get irritated. It's simple.
③SNSはキラキラした瞬間を切り取ったもの
Social media is a snapshot of a sparkling moment.
SNSに部屋の壁の写真を載せないが、綺麗な景色の写真は載せる。
You don't post pictures of the walls of your room on social media, but you can post pictures of beautiful scenery.
SNSにいつもの夕食の写真を載せないが、記念日の夕食の写真は載せる。
You don't post pictures of your regular dinner on social media, but you can post pictures of dinners on special occasions.
SNSに載せられているものは、非日常の写真だということをわかっていなければいけない。
You need to understand that the things posted on social media are not your everyday life.
SNSと自分の生活を比較するのは、まさにバカがすることだ。
