岡崎公園にいる徳川家康公に会いにいこう♪
岡崎公園内にある徳川家康の銅像です。有名な彫塑家である高村泰正氏の制作によるものです。
1965年（昭和40年）の「家康公350年祭」を記念して建てられました。
徳川家康公銅像
天文11年12月26日（西暦1542年）岡崎公園内二の丸（現在の能楽堂）で生まれた。幼少の頃人質として苦難の道をあるき、自立した後は全国統一をめざし、転戦を続け、慶長5年（1600年）天下分目の関ケ原の合戦に大勝して、天下をおさめるにいたった。以後持前の才能を生かし、全国統一の念願をかなえるとともに、徳川幕政300年の基盤をも作り、元和2年4月17日（西暦1616年）75才でこの世を去った。
この銅像は昭和40年家康公350年祭を記念して建てたものである。
IYEYASU TOKUGAWA
Iyeyasu Tokugawa was born on December 26, 1542 in the secondary citadel of Okazaki Castle, where the outdoor theater lies at present. In his early years, he led a bitter life as a hostage. As he grew up, he fought in one place after another at last winning a great victory in the decisive battle at Sekigahara. Later his excellent ability succeeded in briging the whole country under his domination just as he had always dreamed. He laid the foundation of the Tokugawa Shogunate which lasted 300 years. On April 17, 1616 the hero passed away at 75 years of age. This bronze statue was erected in 1965 in commemoration of his 350th anniversary.
