お昼休みには
司馬遼太郎、街道をゆく
を読んでます
不思議とあれ読んでると、
日本語使いたくなるんですよね
カタカナ表記をなるべく
日本語で表現したくなる
表現しきれないものは、
英語にして表現する
そうすると気付くんですね、
英語表現でもちゃんと理解
してるものは日本語に直せる
理解が曖昧なものは、
日本語に直せない
さて、日本人は横文字を
使うことで賢くなっているのか？
なかなか面白い視点だなと
感じています
日本人であること、
日本人とは何なのか？
私の生涯テーマの一つです、

Good morning! ☀
I was up at 5:00 AM today,
and I’m currently working on a blog post. ✨
During my lunch breaks,
I’ve been reading Ryotaro Shiba’s Kaidō wo Yuku (On the Highways).
It’s strange, but reading his work makes me want to use pure Japanese.
I find myself wanting to express katakana loanwords
in Japanese as much as possible.
When something simply cannot be captured that way,
I choose to express it in English instead.
That’s when I realize something:
If I truly understand an English expression,
I can translate it into Japanese.
If my understanding is vague,
I can't find the right Japanese words for it.
Now, does using "westernized" words (loanwords)
actually make us Japanese people any smarter?
I find this perspective quite intriguing.
What does it mean to be Japanese? Who are we?
This is one of my lifelong themes.
I really must visit Lake Biwa soon.
"The Enemy of the Best is Good."
The time has come for me to truly confront this mantra.
