石炭紀に目撃した少年少女達の正体
○古生代、石炭紀、紀元前3億年、ユーラメリカ大陸セピア色の高さ30メートルの巨大リンボク(レピドデンドロン)の森をナギとロックチャイルド男爵が探検している。ナギ達、森の奥でスチームパンク・タイムマシンから降りる少年達を目撃する。ナギ「From which era did those boys and girls come?(あの少年少女達はどの時代からやって来たんだ?)」ロックチャイルド「Like me, they are boys and girls who have time-traveled from the modern erato the Carboniferous period. They are likely visiting here on a school trip or some kind of educational excursion.(彼らは私と同じく近代から石炭紀へとタイムトラベルしてきた少年少女達だ。恐らく、修学旅行又は何らかの社会科見学でここを訪れているのだろう)」ナギ「Did people from the distant future leave a time machine in the world of the 19th century as well?(遠未来人達は、19世紀の世界にもタイムマシンを残置したのか?)」ロックチャイルド「That is certainly true. However, the time machines of our era can travel to the past, but not to the future.(確かにその通りだ。しかし、我々の時代にあるタイムマシンは過去へは移動できても、未来へは移動できない)」ナギ「…」ロックチャイルド「Even when they travel to the past, they can only observe; they cannot interfere with that era. They cannot touch anyone or exchange words with anyone.(彼らは過去へ飛んでも、観察する事しかできない。彼らはその時代に干渉する事は出来ない。彼らは誰にも触れる事ができず、誰とも言葉を交わす事もできない)」ロックチャイルド、スチームパンクロボットを操縦して倒木した巨大リンボクを回収し始める。少年「It is truly amazing that such gigantic plants turned into coal and then, 300,001,804 years later, became the power source for steam locomotives!(この巨大植物が石炭になって、そして3億1,804年後に蒸気機関車の動力源になるなんて本当にビックリだ!)」
