アメリカ側実行委員の突撃インタビューもついに最終回です。
その人の雰囲気であったり話し方であったり、
実際に会ってみないとなかなかわからないもの、伝わらないものはたくさんあります。
ブログという媒体のみを通し、いかに実行委員ひとりひとりのその人「らしさ」が伝わるのか、そんなことを考えながらうまれたこの企画。少しでもみなさんにアメリカ側の実行委員の様子が伝わっていれば幸いです。
今度は日本側実行委員についてもやってみよっか、とこれまた他の実行委員が企画中です。次の企画も楽しみにしててください。

1) Why did you apply to 60th JASC?
- My senpai from university was a member of the 60th AEC (also my RT leader) and he encouraged me to apply. I was originally thinking of applying next year...but I'm glad I changed my decision.
2) How was 60th JASC? (Did it influence you in some way? If so, how etc)
-It made me reconsider my identity as a Japanese citizen struggling to find a position in the globalizing world. It also made me wonder how Japan-US relations are going to alter due to the economic uprisings of developing countries. Overall, it made me question the relatively peaceful stability of Japan and how international pressures will change this. But more importantly, the bonds of friendship and memories made during the 60th are something I will treasure forever.
3) What was the most memorable thing in 60th JASC?
-Despite our ongoing "tsukarehare" (「疲れた」＋「腹減った」) condition throughout the program, I enjoyed meeting new people, visiting locations, and the intellectual exchange of knowledge and experience among the delgates. The countless pictures taken during the conference doesn't do much justice; it's hard to explain by words alone.
4) If you had to express JASC in one phrase or word, how would you describe it?
-A mosaic of different people, experiences, emotions...forms one solitary picture.
5) When is the happiest moment in a day?
-Wandering in the subconscious state under the comfort of my bed. Alarm clock turned off.
6) Imagine that now you were in an inhabited island and were allowed to bring only 3 items. What would you bring? and why?
-a blanket (i dont like the cold)
-pajamas (no one else is there, right?)
-a solar powered GPS to track another inhabited island (just incase a tsunami hits and im not dead)
7) What would you do on the last day of the earth?
-Find Atlantis.
8) Have you ever been to Japan?
-I'm actually in Tokyo right now for winter break
9) What is your favourite phrase or word in Japanese?
-もったいない
10) Give a short message for the readers in English.
-Harro, I hope you'll apply to Jasc. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the JECs. Even if you dont...contact them anyways. They're all super cool people to talk to and we all hope to see you in July.

-I was unpacking my suitcase...and realized how much stuff I forgot to bring...ahahaha

1) Why did you apply to 60th JASC?
- I applied to JASC because I wanted a chance to meet people with similar interests! Though in daily life I do come across people who have some interest in Japan, it is often on an artificial level. I wanted to create and share an experience with people which could be both intellectual and hella fun.
2) How was 60th JASC? (Did it influence you in some way? If so, how etc)
-60th Jasc...hahah. I still can't explain it. Whenever someone asks me how it was, I just smile like a fool as I think of how amazing it was! I guess one word i think of, is overwhelming, but in an amazingly fabulous way.
3) What was the most memorable thing in 60th JASC?
-The most memorable moment for me was the joint RT session between "Minority Issues" Roundtable and "Law and Society" Roundtable. We debated and discussed the role of law and the government in the lives of people facing discrimination. We focus on two groups: GLBTQ( gay, lesbian, bisexual, transsexual, and queer) and disabled-people in Japan and America.
The conversation was heated and soo intense but it was wonderful! I feel everyone at the table learned something new about both cultures!
4) If you had to express JASC in one phrase or word, how would you describe it?
-I kinda answered that question already...but I guess i'll say it again. Overwhelming, but in a good way!!
5) When is the happiest moment in a day?
-Everyday, that would getting into bed and reading before bed!! But my happiest moments are when i feel so tired because I've been dancing soo much!
6) Imagine that now you were in an inhabited island and were allowed to bring only 3 items. What would you bring? and why?
-My Ipod with unlimited battery life: because my life revolves around music and dance
A machete: It'd be really useful for building things, cooking, and protecting myself
A really warm blanket or futon set: I could get good rest even on a deserted island
7) What would you do on the last day of the earth?
-Wow, this question is kinda intense. hahah. I would want to spend that time with my family and my closest friends. Probably eating good food and just having fun together!
8) Have you ever been to Japan?
-I'm currently studying abroad in Japan and this is my 4th time here. I'm living in Nagoya for the year. I've been to tokyo, kyoto, osaka, toyama, and Kanazawa! I'm hoping to go Okinawa before I leave, that's definetly a mini dream of mine.
9) What is your favourite phrase or word in Japanese?
-Skinship

-Yo! Mina here. Thanks for reading this survey... it's not that interesting but you read it until the end so, thank you! I think right now is a period when you and other curious studebts are not really sure about JASC or if it is the right thing for you to do. If you feel that way please don't be scared or shy about sending an e-mail to the Executive Committe members and we will answer any of your questions. It only takes 10 mins to send a short e-mail and it might be the key to making one of the best decisions in your life!

-話しをすることで自分の意見と気持ちをさらけ出すことを恐れず、英語で他人と話すあらゆる機会を取ってください。がんばってね！

-Since i'm on campus now, I'm going to have to fight to rain and head back home!

企業OBペンクラブ
皆さんこんにちは、
本日はOBさんの御紹介で、企業OBペンクラブにて短いプレゼンテーションをさせていただきました。
20名程の大企業OBさんに何を話そう・・と考えた結果、発表したものをここでも公開させていただきます。

日米学生会議参加前、私はICU（国際基督教大学）という狭い空間で生活が充実していながらも完結しちゃっていました。他大等の情報がない中、ICUは比較的勉強が大変であり、優秀であるという認識を持ち、自分自身優秀な大学生であるとの意識を構築していました。現状に満足していたせいか、その時外の世界（知らないもの）に対しては排他的・批判的・無関心でありました。
しかし、日米学生会議で35名の新しい人と出会うと、私の考えではいかに機会を損失しているかということに気付きました。東大・慶應をはじめ、日本全国の大学生。それぞれが自分の色を持ち、新しい価値観や考え方、また情報や経験を持っている。これらを受容した結果、私の視野や知見は広がり、知らないものにも興味関心、また面白いであろうという期待を持てることができたと思う。これらを拒否していたならば、本当にMOTTAINAく、機会の損失になっていると思う。
私の場合は以前、ICUで留まっていたという話だが、これは世界における日本人という位置づけでも類比することができるのではないかと思う。
要するに、日米学生会議のような場所で知らないものの面白さを知ったり、異文化交流（アメリカ人に限らず、様々な機会があります）をすることで視野は開け、知らないものに飛び込んで行く力がつくことによっても、新たなるチャンスに巡り会ったりできるのではないかと思う。
ということを日米学生会議は私に教えてくれたという意味でも日米学生会議は私にとって大事な場所であり、今年度は実行委員として頑張らせていただきます。
