It's the start of the new school year, and I'm now a sophomore :p While the excitement of the activities in the year ahead proves to be exciting and interesting, I think it would be difficult to be involved in another event as emotionally intense as HCAP Tokyo Conference 2010.
Working as part of HCAP Tokyo 2010 committee has been an extremely fruitful experience. Seeing our hard work come to fruition during March, I was extremely sad during the conference because I knew all too well that everything is coming to an end. Working with my fellow Japanese students, I learnt about the meaning of true devotion from people like Tahara and Michio, as well as the importance of joy and humor from jokers like Sugi and Nomura. The cast was ably supported by a team of capable ladies who were living proof that gender equality should have long existed - Ayumi, Ayako, Yukari, Mina, Yamashita and Yamazaki. Rounding the team off are equally helpful men such as Yamaguchi, Tamaki, William, Akira and Ohtsubo.
I am sad to see this end, but I feel blessed and happy to be in the company of this group of fine people. For a foreign student like me, this has to be the highlight of my first year in university, and probably the highlight of my university life. I attended the first HCAP meeting without understanding Japanese well, and I ended the HCAP Tokyo Conference with fantastic 仲間.
The success of HCAP Tokyo Conference is succinctly summed up by one of the Harvard participants, who said that this was his first overseas HCAP conference, and that he would make this his last HCAP conference because everything has been so, so wonderful.
To all this, I can only say thank you. And thank you once more :)
