旅程15日目

とうとう帰国日となった。

広島から新幹線で東京駅まで行く。

行きは広島駅からタクシーで

ホテルまで向かったが

帰りは学習してトラムで広島駅へ。

トラムのホームは

信じられないほど狭かった。

それでもスーツケースを持って

トラムに乗り込む人がいることを

事前に確認済だ。

最後の最後でやっと

分相応な旅のコツが分かって来る。

朝食はベーカリーカフェで。

夫はやたら甘そうな物を

私はそこまで食欲は無かったが

せっかくだからと名物っぽい

三元豚のカツサンドにしてみた。

だが後で調べたところ

三元豚は3種の豚を掛け合わせた

豚のことで

この地方の特産物というわけでは

なかったらしい。

新幹線に乗り込む前は

今度こそ駅弁だ。

自分の人生人につられてはならない。

これも今回の旅で学習したことの1つだ。

案の定夫はサンドイッチを買っていた。

またも新幹線は長旅なので

ビールは2缶ずつ購入。

私は広島の名物が色々詰まった

駅弁を選んだ。

飲んだり食べたり微睡んだり

やはり新幹線の旅は今回も快適だった。

途中富士山が見えた。

久しぶりに見る富士山だったが

雪が妙に少なく感じた。

あんなに山頂近くに山肌が見えている

富士山を観たのは初めてかもしれない。

東京駅到着。

フライトは夕方便なので

成田エキスプレスのチケットを予約し

東京駅構内で少し時間を潰すことにする。

本当は東京ではなく

品川で降りた方が良かったのではとか

成田エキスプレスも携帯から予約すると

お得だったらしいという情報が

後から後から入って来る。

...次回に生かそう。

否今回は東京を

夫に見せてあげたかったのだ！

夫は東京駅が東京だと思っており

今回は東京に行く機会がなかったと

感想を漏らしていた。

47 Ronin (赤穂浪士）のお墓参りも

その後行った渋谷も

全部東京だよと教えておいたが

やはり東京駅があるところこそが

夫にとっては東京なのだ。

まずはスーツケースを

コインロッカーに預けようと探すが

大きな荷物が入るロッカーは少なく

既にFullの所が多く

結構歩いて

成田エキスプレスの出発ホーム近くに

コインロッカーを見つけた。

お値段も100円位だが他所よりお安く

利用ホームにも近いのだから

一石二鳥とはこのことだ。

支払いがSuicaでできたのも

良かった。

我々はそれぞれに

NZ出発前に2000円

日本に着いて以降は

2度2000円ずつリチャージしており

コインロッカー支払い後の

Suica残高637円也。

携帯電話にインストールしたSuicaは

以前訳も分からず自動販売機で購入した

外国人用Suicaと違い

1年で期限切れになることも無いだろうが

これ位の残高なら万が一

次に使えなかったとしても

諦めがつくというものだ。

東京見学といっても今回は駅構内のみ。

またもベーカリーカフェ的な所で

お茶をする。

夫はまた甘い物を食べていた。

その後ウィンドウショッピングへ。

東京で売られているものは

何でもキラキラして見える。

駅弁の種類の豊富さは

感動的ですらある。

だが成田までは1時間程度

既にお腹もいっぱいで

手が出ない。

美味しそうなお土産品の誘惑も

半端ない。

だがしかし

NZに持込める食品は制限が厳しい。

これからスーツケースに

収納するのだって大変だ。

故に食品系のお土産は既に買った物以外

成田でゲート通過後に買うと決めていた。

成田エキスプレスに乗り込む前も

定番のビールは買った。

広島からの新幹線で開封し

全然食べ終わらなかった

ピーセンをおつまみに

ビールを飲む。

日本にいる間

常に美味しい物を食べ続けていて

こういうお菓子にまでは

中々辿り着けなかったなと思う。

最後に食べたピーセンは

殊更懐かしい味がした。

空港に到着し無事チェックイン。

出国ゲート通過後に

最後のお土産ショッピングだ。

袋入りの緑茶が500円で売られている。

もしかしたら日本の空港のお店では

本当に免税価格で物が売られているのかと

驚いた。

帰国後調べたが

そのお茶の希望小売価格598円だった。

もちろん安売りで499円とかで

売っているサイトもあったが

空港のお店で免税価格で買えるとは

ありがたいではないか。

同じハチミツやチョコレートを

スーパーの2倍以上の価格で売っている

どこかの国の空港とはえらい違いだ。

緑茶を見ていたお陰で

安心して買い物が楽しめた。

日本は素晴らしい国だ。

Day 15 of the trip

Finally, it was time to return home.

We took the Shinkansen from Hiroshima to Tokyo Station.

We took a taxi from Hiroshima Station to the hotel, but on the way back, we learned how to take the tram to Hiroshima Station. The tram platform was unbelievably narrow. Still, we had confirmed in advance that we would be getting on the tram with our suitcases. At the very last moment, we finally figured out the tricks to traveling appropriately.

We had breakfast at a bakery cafe. My husband had sweet things, and I didn't have much of an appetite, but since we were there, I decided to try the Sangen pork cutlet sandwich, which seems to be a local specialty. However, when I looked it up later, it seems that Sangen pork is a cross between three types of pigs and is not a local specialty of this area.

Before boarding the Shinkansen, I thought, "This time I'll have an ekiben.”

“It's your life. You should eat what you want to eat." This is another thing I learned on this trip. As expected, my husband bought sandwiches. The Shinkansen was a long journey again, so we bought two cans of beer each. I chose an ekiben packed with Hiroshima specialties.

Drinking, eating, and dozing off, the Shinkansen journey was pleasant once again.

On the way, we could see Mt. Fuji. It had been a while since I had seen Mt. Fuji, but there seemed to be strangely little snow. It may have been the first time I had seen Mt. Fuji with its mountainside visible so close to the summit.

Arrived at Tokyo Station. Since the flight was in the evening, we booked Narita Express tickets. We tried to kill some time inside Tokyo Station.

Later, I learned that it would have been better to get off at Shinagawa instead of Tokyo, and that it would have been cheaper to book the Narita Express from my mobile phone.

...Well, maybe next time.

Actually, this time I wanted to show Tokyo to my husband! My husband thought Tokyo Station was one and only Tokyo and commented that we didn't have a chance to go to Tokyo this time.

We also visited the graves of the 47 Ronin (Ako Roshi) and then went to Shibuya. I told him that it was all in Tokyo, but for my husband, Tokyo is where Tokyo Station is. First, we looked for a coin locker to put our suitcases in, but there were few lockers that could fit large luggage, and many of them were already full, so we walked quite a bit and found a coin locker near the departure platform for the Narita Express. Just slightly, but it was even cheaper than other places as well. It was close to the platform we were using, so this is what it means to kill two birds with one stone. It was also good that we could pay with Suica.

We each recharged our Suica cards with 2,000 yen before leaving NZ, and 2,000 yen each twice after arriving in Japan, so after paying for the coin locker, we had 637 yen left on each Suica card. Unlike the Suica cards for foreigners that I bought from vending machines without knowing the previous travel, the Suica cards installed on our phones probably won't expire in a year, but with this much balance, we can accept it even if we can't use it next time.

This time, we only visited the station during our tour of Tokyo.

We had a break at a bakery-cafe-like place snd my husband ate something sweet again. After that, we went window shopping. Everything sold in Tokyo looks shiny. The variety of ekiben is impressive. However, it takes about an hour to get to Narita, and I was already too full.

The temptation of delicious-looking souvenirs is overwhelming. However, there are strict restrictions on the food you can bring to NZ.

It's also difficult to fit them in a suitcase. So, we decided to buy food souvenirs after passing through the gate at Narita, except for the ones we’ve already bought. Before boarding the Narita Express, we also bought two beers. We drank beer with some Japanese snack called “Pisen,” which we had started and never finished on the Shinkansen from Hiroshima. We were constantly eating delicious food while in Japan, and I realized it took a long time for us to eat Japanese yummy snacks something like this. The pisen, which we ate, had a particularly nostalgic taste. We arrived at the airport and checked in. After passing through the departure gate, it was time for some final souvenir shopping.

They sell a bag of green tea for 500 yen.

I was surprised, wondering if Japanese airport shops really sell things at duty-free prices.

I checked after returning home, and the suggested retail price for the same tea was 598 yen.

Of course, there were websites selling it for 499 yen, but it was great to be able to buy it at duty-free prices at airport shops.

It's a big difference from some airports in other countries, where the same honey and chocolate are sold for more than twice the price at supermarkets.

I was able to enjoy shopping with peace of mind thanks to the green tea.

Japan is a wonderful country.
