那覇は遠い...-実家無し海外在住者の日本滞在記 4日目

旅程4日目

姉弟を見送り2人だけとなった我々

宮古島のホテルをチェックアウトし

宮古空港出発までの時間軽くドライブ

その後レンタカーを返して

シャトルバスで空港まで。

これから沖縄で一番の都会

那覇で2泊する予定だ。

お昼くらいの出発だったので

午前中に空港に着いていたのだが

事件は搭乗ゲート通過後に起こった。

別のフライトで15分だか30分位

出発が遅れた物があり

搭乗予定だった方達は500円分の

空港内で使えるバウチャーを貰っていた。

これは空港内放送で聞いたので確かな情報だ。

一方我々のフライトは

最初に何人もの搭乗者を機内に案内したのち

『メインテナンスの為』という理由で

搭乗案内が途中で止まってしまった。

もうとっくに出発している時間になっても

一向に機内へ案内される気配がない。

こちらとしては段々と不安になってくる。

出発ゲート通過後生じた遅れとは言え

バウチャーを貰って当然位の遅れとなっている。

とうとう遅延は30分どころの騒ぎでは無い

という段階になって乗るはずだったフライトが

キャンセルとなった。

とにかく一旦出発ゲートを退出し

出来る人は携帯等から自力で

出来ない人は1番カウンターに並んで

払い戻しなりチケット振替なりの手続きを

するように指示される。

我々は1番カウンターに並びながら

携帯から何とか次のフライトを予約

列を離れ一旦機内に積み込まれていたラゲッジを

探してもらい再度チェックインである。

ちなみにこの時はバウチャーではなく

封筒に入ったピン札の2000円をいただいた。

さすがJAPANだ。

最終的に那覇空港到着は

3時間くらい遅れたと思う。

お陰でそのままホテルに行っても

チェックインできる時間になっていた。

元々この日は特に予定を組んでいなかった。

ホテルへはシャトルバスも出ていたはずだが

雨だし疲れたしでタクシーに乗ることにする。

ところがこのタクシー乗り場が直ぐに分からず

やたらと大きな那覇空港を右往左往

なんだかなぁ…という那覇初日である。

ホテルは比較的新しくとても奇麗で

国際通りにも直ぐ出られる

Hewitt Resort Nahaに泊った。

部屋も奇麗だしインフィニティ―プールもある。

但しこのインフィニティ―プールは

別料金が必要だとチェックイン時に言われた。

どちらにしてもこの天気で今日は入れないとも。

Hewittホテルは

何よりバスルームが素晴らしかった。

日本の家庭のお風呂の様に

湯舟だけでなく洗い場もある。

実は宮古のホテルの私達の部屋は

追加料金まで払って

海の見える部屋にしていたのだが

シャワーが全然ダメだったのだ。

水からお湯になるまで数分かかる上に

水圧は弱く一旦お湯になっても直ぐまた水に戻る。

これがどうもその部屋だけの問題だったようで

それぞれシングルで泊まっていた

姉も弟も大丈夫だったそうだ。

もちろんホテルの人にも言ったが

何故かホテルの人が見に来てくれた時は

ちゃんとお湯が出るという不思議。

朝の忙しい中1人で働いていたスタッフを

部屋に呼びつけたことも申しわけなく

またお湯が直ぐ水に戻ることが発覚したのも

その夜のことだったためそのまま我慢した。

雨の中ホテルで傘を借り

国際通りを散策して買い物＆夕食。

那覇のホテルでは雨で冷えた体を

たっぷりお湯を張った湯船で

温めることができたのが何よりの幸せであった。

Day 4 of the trip:

We bid farewell to the siblings, and now it's just the two of us.

We checked out of the hotel in Miyakojima and returned the rental car and took a shuttle bus to the airport.

We're planning to spend two nights in Naha, the largest city in Okinawa.

We were leaving around noon, so we arrived at the airport in the morning, but the incident happened after we passed through the boarding gate.

There was another flight that was delayed by about 15 or 30 minutes, and those who were scheduled to board were given a 500 yen voucher to use at the airport.

I heard this on the airport announcements, so it's reliable information.

On the other hand, after the first few passengers were guided on board, our flight stopped midway through for "maintenance."

It was already time for us to depart, but there was no sign of us being guided on board.

We were getting more and more anxious.

Even though it was a delay that occurred after we passed through the departure gate, it was a natural delay considering we were given vouchers.

Finally, the delay was more than 30 minutes, and the flight we were supposed to take was canceled.

Anyway, we left the departure gate, and those who could do it themselves from their mobile phones, and those who couldn't line up at counter 1 to apply for a refund or ticket transfer.

While we were waiting in line at counter 1, we somehow managed to book the next flight from our mobile phones. We left the line and had them search our luggages that had been loaded onto the plane, and we checked in again. By the way, this time we were not given a voucher, but 2000 yen in an envelope.

We think we ended up arriving at Naha Airport about 3 hours late. Thanks to that, we would have been able to check in if we had gone straight to the hotel. We didn't have any plans for that day. There was a shuttle bus to the hotel, but it was raining and we were tired, so we decided to take a taxi. However, we couldn't find the taxi stand right away, and we wandered around the huge Naha Airport.

It was a strange first day in Naha.

We stayed at the Hewitt Resort Naha, a relatively new and very clean hotel with direct access to Kokusai-dori. The rooms were clean, and there was an infinity pool. However, when we checked in, we were told that there was an extra charge for the infinity pool. Either way, with this weather we couldn't use it today. The bathroom at the Hewitt Hotel was the best. Just like a Japanese home bathroom, it had not only a bathtub but also a washing area. In fact, we paid extra for our room at the Miyako hotel to get a room with an ocean view, but the shower was completely useless. It took several minutes for the water to turn hot, and the water pressure was weak, so even if it turned hot, it would turn back to cold again. It seems that this was only a problem with that room, and my sister and brother, who were staying in single rooms, were fine. Of course, we told the hotel staff, but for some reason when he came to check, the hot water came out properly, which was strange. I felt bad for calling the staff member who was working alone in the busy morning into our room, and it was also that night that I discovered that the hot water quickly turned back into cold water, so I just put up with it.

We borrowed an umbrella from the hotel in the rain, strolled down Kokusai-dori, went shopping, and had dinner.

At the hotel in Naha, I was happiest being able to warm up my body, which had gotten cold from the rain, in a bathtub filled with plenty of hot water.
