旅程5日目

那覇2日目もうこの辺りから

先の予定はザックリとしか決めていない。

宮古の予定が隙間時間に到るまで

見事に埋まったのは姉弟のお陰でもある。

いや二人のお陰でしかない…

朝食は宿泊料金に含まれていたので

まずはホテルの朝食ブッフェで腹ごしらえ。

この時夫と私の選んだ朝食の画像を

撮らなかったことが悔やまれるが

見事なまでに何一つ被っていなかった。

夫は日本食大好きと言いながら

朝はただの外人だ。

納豆大好きというから納豆を朝食に出したら

絶句された新婚時代を思い出す。

ちなみに夫が好きなのは

納豆ではなくまぐろ納豆の様な

アレンジされた納豆であることも

後に知ったことである。

天気予報はこの日も雨だったが

幸運なことに日中は曇り時々晴れ

雨は夕刻から降り出すこととなった。

そして翌日の沖縄出発日の予報は晴天

これが見事に的中するのである。

日中お酒を飲むことを諦めれば

レンタカーが効率的で良いだろうと

インバウンド的発想で抵抗はあったが

ホテルのスタッフに相談したところ

ホテル特別レートを適用している

レンタカー会社を紹介して貰えた。

実は宮古では自分で見つけた

格安レンタカーを利用したのだが

免責保険をフルで付けたところ

結局ホテルで紹介されたレンタカー会社と

大差ない金額となっていた。

さらに

こちらのレンタカー会社の免責保険は

格安レンタカー会社の半額未満

リクエストした訳でもないのに

車も無料でアップグレードしてくれた。

『安かろう悪かろう』とか

『寄らば大樹の陰』とか

そんな言葉が脳裏を過った。

レンタカー会社は『おもろまち』にあり

ゆいレールで1駅らしいが

歩けない距離ではない。故に歩く。

おもろまちには大きなデパートや

博物館・美術館がある。

折角なのでまず徒歩で楽しめる

博物館・美術館を見学し

デパートで買い物してから

レンタカーを借りることにした。

レンタカー会社はDuty Freeの

巨大なビルの中にあった。

そこには何社もの

レンタカー会社受付カウンターが連なっていた。

大都会である。

カウンターに行き着くまで何度も迷子になった。

ここで乗り心地も最高な車を

良心的な価格で24時間お借りすることにする。

車に乗って最初に向かったのは

アメリカンビレッジだった。

その名称だけで『興味が無い』

と言い放った夫だったが

アメリカンビレッジが海が近いことも手伝って

行ったら行ったで結構喜んでいた。

『街全体がディズニーランドみたい』

と感想を漏らしていたが

彼はディズニーランドに行ったことがない。

その後那覇に着いてからビーチらしいビーチに

未だ行っていなかったので

適当に検索して○○ビーチという所へ

行ってみることにした。

ところがここが某リゾートホテルの

プライベートビーチだったのだ。

駐車場手前で係の男性に止められ

ここから先は

宿泊客かホテル施設の利用客でないと

入れないという。

係の方はとても親切で

10分位なら無料で停めても良いと言ってくれたが

折角ならホテルのカフェでお茶でもして来ますと

１時間停めようが1日停めようが

同じという駐車料金を払い

車を停めさせていただいた。

植物園の様な大きなホテルのロビーを抜けると

プライベートビーチが広がり

宿泊客と思われる人々が

思い思いに過ごしている。

曇りがちではあったが

晴天ならばさぞ気持ちの良いことだろう。

ビーチにはテーブル席も用意されているが

バースタッフらしい人の姿は見当たらない。

ロビー内にはお店もあり

奥の方にはレストランもあるらしいが

レストランまで行ってしまうと

海は見えなそうだ。

ロビーの片隅に自動販売機を見つけ

そこでドリンクを二つ購入

ビーチを眺めながら豪華なのかチープなのか

よく分からないティータイムを過ごす。

夫はこのプライベートビーチが気に入った様で

帰路の車中『明日の午前中にビーチに戻る』

と言い出した。

しかしこのビーチまで

那覇から片道1時間前後かかる。

明日は午後1時のフライトで羽田に向かい

横浜に移動することになっている。

午前中時間が無い訳では無いが

きっと探せばもっと近場に

ビーチは幾らでもあるであろう。

11時迄にチェックアウトすればOKなので

午前中に余裕で行けて

ホテルでシャワーを浴びれる所にしようと提案

さらに私は出発日の朝には

海で泳がない宣言もしたのだが

これが夫の逆鱗に触れることになる。

沖縄まで来て海に入らず帰るなんてあり得ない

こんなことなら1日も早く家に帰りたいと

すっかりへそを曲げてしまったのだ。

夫の不機嫌はこうなると長い。

近場のビーチを探してプレゼンしようと

ホテルのインフィニティプールを提案しようと

全否定である。

本当に駄々っ子と一緒だ。

余計機嫌が悪くなることは分かっていたが

話さなくなった夫に話しかけても無駄なので

帰りの車中はこれ幸いと仕事をして過ごした。

Day 5 of the trip

Day 2 in Naha

We had only roughly decided our plans for the rest of the trip from this point on.

Thanks to my siblings, our plans for Miyako were completely filled up, even unplanned free time.

Actually, thanks to them...

The hotel breakfast buffet was interesting.

I regret not taking pictures of the breakfast my husband and I chose at this time, but there was nothing that overlapped.

My husband says he loves Japanese food, but in the morning, he is just a foreigner.

He says he loves natto, but he couldn’t eat much when I served it for breakfast when we were newlyweds.

By the way, what my husband likes is not natto, but an arranged natto like tuna natto, which I learned later.

The weather forecast was for rain on this day as well, but fortunately, it was cloudy with occasional sunny spells during the day, and the rain started to fall in the evening.

The forecast for the next day, the day we left Okinawa, was sunny, and this turned out to be a perfect match.

We thought that renting a car would be efficient if we gave up drinking during the day.

When I asked the hotel staff, they introduced us to a rental car company that offers special prices.

Actually, in Miyako, we used a cheap rental car that I found myself, but when we added full liability insurance, the price ended up not being such a huge difference from the rental car company introduced by the hotel.

Furthermore, the liability insurance of this rental car company was less than half the price of the cheap rental car company, and they even upgraded the car for free, even though we didn't request it.

Words like "cheap is bad" and "you can find a big tree in the shade" crossed my mind.

The rental car company is in "Omoromachi," and it's only one stop on the Yui Rail, but it's not too far to walk. So we walked.

Omoromachi has a large department store and a museum/art gallery.

Since we were there, we decided to first visit the museum/art gallery that we could enjoy walking to, and then shop at the department store before renting a car.

The rental car company was in a huge duty-free department store building.

There were several rental car company reception counters lined up here.

What a huge place!

We got lost many times before we found the counter.

We rented a very comfortable car here for 24 hours at a reasonable price.

The first place we went to after getting in the car was American Village.

My husband said he wasn't interested just from the name, but he was quite happy when we got there because American Village is close to the sea.

He commented that the whole town looks like Disneyland, but he has never been to Disneyland.

After that, we decided to go to a beach because we haven’t been to any beaches after arriving in Naha.

I randomly searched for a place called XX Beach.

But it turned out to be a private beach at a certain resort hotel.

We were stopped by a man in charge just before the parking lot and told that only guests staying at the hotel or using the hotel facilities could go beyond that point.

The attendant was very kind and said that we could park for free for 10 minutes, but we decided to stop by the hotel cafe or bar for tea, and paid the same parking fee whether we parked for an hour or a day.

After passing through the large hotel lobby, which resembles a botanical garden, we came to a private beach where people who seemed to be guests were spending their time as they pleased.

It was cloudy, but if it was a sunny day, it would have been very pleasant.

There were tables on the beach, but there were no bar staff to be seen.

There was a shop in the lobby, and apparently there was a restaurant at the back, but it seemed like you cannot see the ocean from there.

We found a vending machine in a corner of the lobby, and bought two drinks there. We spent our tea time looking out at the beach, not sure if it was luxurious or cheap.

My husband liked this private beach, so on the way back, he said, "We'll go back to the beach tomorrow morning."

However, it takes about an hour one way from Naha to get to this beach.

Tomorrow we are heading to Haneda on a 1 pm flight. We are switching to Yokohama. I'm sure there are plenty of beaches closer to our hotel. As long as we check out by 11 am, we can go in the morning and have plenty of time to take a shower at the hotel. I also declared that the day we were leaving I couldn't swim in the sea, but this angered my husband. There was no way we could come all the way to Okinawa and go home without going in the sea. He was completely upset and wanted to go home as soon as possible. Once this happened, my husband's bad mood lasted a long time. I tried to find a nearby beach and make a presentation, and suggested the hotel's infinity pool, but he completely rejected all. He was just like a spoiled child. I knew it would make him even more upset, but there was no point in talking to him, so I took advantage of the situation and spent the rest of the drive home working.
