Berry Park.
Last weekend, I went out drinking with my coworkers in Bedford, Brooklyn.
After eating dinner in Korean restaurant, we moved to a new bar.
It seems that an old wearhouse is renovated, and it has huge space inside
and also rooftop beer garden.
They have 16 kind of European beer, wine and hard liquor.
There are some table and bar counter on the rooftop and you can drink there
outside. From this season, imagine that drink beer outside during the day and
see the sunset on the rooftop, and then see the night view of Manhattan with
drinking a glass of wine... What a romantic.
I love this ambience. And the World Cup Soccer is going to open in two months
and they will show the games on the big screen!! It definitely be fun and exciting!!
先週末、BrooklynのBedfordにある「Berry Park」っていうBarに飲みに行きました。
去年の3月にできたばかりの新しいBarなんですが、何かの倉庫を改装したような感じの
建物で、室内１Floorと屋上で16種類のヨーロッパ（特にドイツ）ビールとワイン、ハードリカー
が楽しめます。室内は４ｍ以上ある天井高にアンティーク風の照明と木製のインテリアが
新しくも、どこかレトロな感じをかもし出していて、落ち着く空間でした。
店内は天井高がある上に面積も広いので、かなりの開放感。
ですが、屋上に上がるとそれにも増して更なる開放感。。。
周りに高い建物も無く、低く設定してある木製フェンスの向こうにはManhattanの摩天楼。
少しの間言葉を失いました…
写真の左端に見えるのがEmpire State Building。
今からの季節、暖かくなって外で飲んでも気持ちいい気候がやってきます。
昼間からビール片手に太陽浴びて、そのまま夕日を眺め、日が沈むとワイン片手に
Manhattanの夜景を見る…なんてロマンチックな想像をしてしまいます。
こんな雰囲気の空間大好きです。
BedfordにはまだまだおしゃれなBarやRestaurantが溢れてます。
あ～いつかこの辺に引っ越したいなぁ。バイト先近いし…

Something happened...
Walk down the street in Manhattan, I often meet somthing unexpected.
Sometimes it's like a garbage, sometimes it's like an art, and sometimes
it's like somthing wrong...
But, most of them seem kind of arts for me so that they are in NY.

NYの傘は壊れやすい…けど。。。 これはたぶんアートでしょ？
交差点渡る時に信号探しました。
首をかしげたら見つかりました。
もはや、青でも赤でもどっちでもいいです。
これもアート？！

St.Patrick's Day.
Last Wednesday was St.Patrick's Day which Irish and Irish American cerebrate.
Saint Patrick is recognized of the patron saints of Ireland. He was born in England
on March 17th and had been enslaved in Ireland. Then, he returned to England and
went back to Ireland. He is credited with ridding Ireland of snakes.
The parade cerebrating this day in Manhattan is the largest in the U.S.
I went to see the parade with my classmates (to be honest I didn't know that the day
was St.Patrick's Day till I went to school...) From the morning, there were a lot of
green things in the city; people cerebrate this day wear green clothes with pictures
of shamrock which is a national emblem of Ireland.
We saw American flags and Irish flags everywhere.
Many foods; pizza, beer, sandwiches... were green.
And weather was very nice and beautiful!! That's why everybody was cheerful and
exciting to enjoy cerebrating the day.
I was so impressed that people participated in the parade were very friendly, fun, and
lively. I thought we Japanese don't have that personalities...
先週の水曜日はSt.Patrick's DayというIrishとIrish Americanがお祝いする日でした。
St.Patrickはイギリスで生まれ、幼少時に奴隷としてアイルランドに連れてこられ、その後、脱走して
故郷に戻り、ヨーロッパで神学を学んだ。
そして再びアイルランドに戻り、アイルランドにキリスト教を広めた人物。
また、St.Patrickはアイルランドで太鼓を鳴らして蛇を海へ追いやったという伝説も残っている。
要するに、アイルランドのカトリック教徒が司教の命日を祝おうという日なんです。
そして、アイルランド移民の多いアメリカ、特にNYではパレードなどが行われて、NYのパレードは
アメリカ一もしくは世界一とも言われているくらい大きなパレードだそうです。（正直、僕はこの日
学校に行くまでその日がSt.Patrick Dayだとは知りませんでしたが。。。）
ってことで、クラスメイトと学校終わりに足を伸ばして見ることに。
街中、緑、緑、緑、緑、緑…道行く人はアイルランドの国章でもあるシャムロックの絵の入った
緑のTシャツを着て、街では緑のピザ、緑のビール、緑のサンドウィッチと何もかもが緑に染められて
いました。そして、至るところにアメリカ星条旗とアイルランド国旗… これ日本でやったら確実に
右寄りですよね…？！
何より、天気が最高に良かった！！最近気温もグングン上がってきて、春の陽気のせいか、
みんな明るく、ワイワイこのお祝いの日を楽しんでました。
なんか、街中の人がフレンドリーで明るくて活発で楽しそうにしてるのって、アメリカ人のパーソナリティ
なんでしょうね。日本人にはなかなか真似できないパーソナリティだと思います。
こうして、その国の祝日について調べてみるのもいいですよね。その国の文化に触れてるって感じが
して。
