In our modern lifestyle, mind and body are always very busy, perhaps too busy. This is true for both coaches and their clients. Coaching sessions work to assist individuals to cope and understand themselves in this environment. How can coaches boost the effectiveness of their coaching sessions?

The practice of mindfulness is now becoming key to enhancing a coach’s performance. Masako Nemoto, a seasoned coach specializing in women employee empowerment, communication, and team building, will teach specific mindfulness techniques, such as breathing, that enable coaches to center and detox themselves, understand where they are, and properly build a relationship with their clients.

Nemoto will introduce research from the United Kingdom and the United States on the effects of mindfulness in the workplace in general and on leadership, performance, and stress levels in particular. This research underscores the importance of mindfulness for both coach and client. Nemoto will teach how to introduce mindfulness to clients and how to use it to direct questions that create shifts in consciousness. With visualization and examples from her own coaching experience, Nemoto will lead participants into a deeper discovery of mindfulness and how it can enrich the quality of their coaching.

This training will integrate the following ICF core competencies:
3. Establishing Trust and Intimacy with the Client
4. Coaching Presence

At our meeting, we will:
— Learn mindfulness breathing techniques and how to introduce mindfulness to clients
— Experience working with mindfulness during a coaching session
— Coach each other, focusing on the ICF core competencies of Establishing Trust and Intimacy with the Client and Coaching Presence
— Give & receive feedback on coaching
— Explain how you can earn Continuing Coach Education units

Coaching practice includes:
— creating an awareness of yourself (your being) and your client (where they are mentally and spiritually)
— gracefully building up your presence as a coach
— increasing your mindfulness to understand how you can direct your questions to create shifts in consciousness

The Coaching in English Group is open to any coach or would-be coach of any nationality who uses or wants to use English professionally in their coaching sessions. Activities will be conducted in English. Please join us to meet other coaches working in English, earn CCEUs, and build a supportive professional community with an international flavor.

Coaching in English Group meeting dates for 2016: January 21, March 17, May 19, July 21, September 15, November 17
