発表会に招かれて行ってまいりました。
アフリカンダンスは言葉のとおりアフリカのダンスで、
歌、リズム、ダンスに意味があるのです。
それを主催の先生が分かりやすく説明しながらの進行でしたので、
アフリカンダンスが初めての私のような観客も
引き込まれて楽しむことができました。
最初、「アフリカンダンスって激しいのね！」という印象でした。
でも、この発表会の出演者は子どもから大人。
本当はそれぞれの年齢に合わせたダンスがあり、ゆっくりのダンス、
激しいダンス、女性的なダンス、男性的なダンスとさまざまあるのです。
出演者のみなさんがこの発表会のために一生懸命練習を
繰り返してきたのを強く感じました。
その意気込み、熱気、迫力！
すべてに圧倒されました。
この日を目標にどのくらい練習してきたのでしょう。
かつて私も舞台で踊っていたので、
なかなか思うようにいかず苦しんだこと、体力が続かないこと、
いろんな思いを経て輝かしいステージに立っていることと思いました。
本番の成果についての思いはそれぞれと思いますが、
発表会という目標を達成した出演者のみなさんは大変輝いていました。
何かに向かって頑張る、目標を掲げてそれに向かって努力する、
その姿を目の前にして私感動の日を過しました。
目標達成は感動的、でもプロセスがとても大切です。

I went to see the African Dance Performance at Ebisu Garden Place on the weekend.
Every song, rhythm and movement of African dance have meanings. During the performance the hosting instructor explained those meanings simply, so that the person like me who is new to African dance can understand it easily and enjoy the performance.
In the beginning my impression was "Wow! African dance is wild!". But the dancers were from children to adults. In reality African dance has a variety of different kinds of movements. There are slow dance, wild dance, feminine dance, masculine dance and so on.
I could tell how hard they have been practicing for this performance. I was astonished by their enthusiasm, fervor and power!
I wonder how many times they have practiced for this goal. They must have had a hard time not dancing well enough or not having enough stamina since I used to a dance (not an African dancer) on the stage as well. They were here on the stage after experiencing a lot of different difficulties.
At the end of the performance their faces were radiating joy that they have reached their goal.
Setting a goal and go for it. The performers who reached a goal made the audience happy.
Reaching a goal is impressive, but the process is more important.
