I wonder how many of you still remember, let alone continue hobbies from school days? Most of us have moved on and found new pastimes, discovered new interests and passions and never looked back. Some of us, however, like to revive the feeling of nostalgia and go back to things that used to mean a lot to us.
I recently had a chance to go through my school things that had not been touched since I left school. I was so thrilled to find two well-preserved stamp books containing a rich collection of stamps featuring butterflies, plants and tropical fish. I eagerly sat down to examine the contents and recapture the magic that used to inspire my imagination. I relished the memories of quests in search of specimens to complete a series or exchange some of my treasure with another avid collector.
Those were great days which remind me of how much passion I had for life and how much I cherished small things I had. Now, when everything is so easily obtainable from the Internet and elsewhere, I have no taste for more stamps. I think my collection is complete. It took long enough to teach me to pause and appreciate how elaborate and rich ordinary life is beyond images printed on paper.
